Amazing experience, food, and atmosphere! Hans prepares a delicious 4 course surprise vegan meal that is very healthy with no processed or packaged ingredients. Even a leaf for napkin is a unique touch to the overall presentation. You do not need to be vegan to appreciate and enjoy this experience. Fantastic!

This is not a restaurant, it’s a declaration of love to life.Hans collects the hidden gems of the islands plant life and turns them into the most amazing, genuine, unique, inspired dishes that taste amazing, are profoundly healthy and so full of love. If you have the luck to hang out with him you will also receive a transmission of deep joy for life.We’ll come back many times. Thank you!

Favorite restaurant in Faial ?Not just a place to eat, an experience ?
Peculiar restaurant, let's see… the place is beautiful, all natural and a pleasant environment.Hans is very friendly and cordial, he is the one who makes the food (surprise menu, you cannot choose since everything is his own organic products and they do not have brands of drinks or wines, beers, soft drinks, only water) and he is also the one who serves, he is alone for everything .It is true that without a reservation it picks you up at almost any time. We went around 3pm because everywhere is closed.The food... well... it's not bad but it's not anything to write home about... basically it's all potatoes and little else... I would have needed a little more forcefulness.

Wow, wow, wow! It started with a phone call, I asked if the restaurant was open that evening as we had just arrived from London. "No, but come to my home, I will cook for you!" came the reply! We arrived and Hans greeted us with a hug and told us to take a look around whilst he carried on with meal preparations. Go to this place with an open mind as every course is a surprise and some of the foods and combinations will surely be a new experience for you! I am vegetarian, my husband is a meat eater. We both LOVED every single course. Hans sat with us and chatted in free moments from cooking, he told us about his forest where he gathers many ingredients. He prepared a tea for us using herbs from his garden and we can both hand on heart say that this dining experience was unforgettable. The food was extremely tasty but of course there is plant based food that you may find elsewhere that tastes better (although unlikely on Faial), you must go for the experience as well as the food though, you must go to meet Hans and to see his little place of heaven and you must relish the fact that each bite of food is locally sourced and grown and lovingly made by an incredible person. BRILLIANT experience - and we are very lucky to have had many wonderful food experiences in the past, this one will remain firmly at the top!

Cute little restaurant in the middle of nature!The owner Hans welcomed us with smile and prepared us a 4 corse lunch (called Menu Surprise) made from locally grown vegetables, which was delicious.Interesting, the menu does not have a fixed price. It's up to the customer to decide how much they would like to pay.
Vegetarian options: All food is plant based. The owner also tries to minimize buying processed food to promote locally grown and seasonal products and to reduce waste.
