“First of all, probably the friendliest staff I have met on my travel to the Azores. And the pizza was excelent too. You can ''make'' your own pizza, you choose whatever toping you want and I think that's an amazing idea. I definitely recommend it.“
“On the recommendation of our guide, we had lunch here to try their local specialties. Our group of four adults shared a charcuterie board with dried pork sausages and cheeses from Terceira, São Jorge and Pico; Alcatra (braised beef in spices); fried hake; local Donatario white wine; and Dona Amelia cake (a cornmeal-based gingerbread). Everything was fantastic, especially the beef and the cake (both Terceira specialties).“
“Ring the Bell! Yes, this is EXACTLY what we did to get admitted on Oct 9, 2023 …my last night visiting Portugal before flying off first thing tomorrow. Told my friends who brought me here, that I feel like going to meet the mafia :) I was told it’s hard to secure a reservation unless there’s some last minute cancellations. Viola ! You get transported into a time warp of the British era, complete with wooden furnishings and waiters formally dressed but certainly not opulent. I find the seating rather cramp and the acoustics poor. Well, when a restaurant boldly advertises herself to have the best steaks in town, how can one possibly skip the steak ? I went for a non-carbs O tradicional bife, served with spinach…. But I suspect their signature creamy sauce is calorie laden. It was probably unique because I rarely eat beef with creamy sauce. The BEST? Ah no. Above average ? Yes. Personally, I’d stick to my Japanese Wagyu. Good selection of wines too. The service however, was impeccable.“

“I had already visited last summer and it hadn't had much of an impact. But now after the renovation of the space it is incredible. The service was exceptional. The food was great. We started by eating starters (cooked prawns, meat balls and broken eggs), all delicious, in the little space we had in our stomachs we were still able to taste the picanha, brisket and rump, all of excellent quality, the last one being our favourite. We drank white sangria which was also very good. We have to go back to try the desserts. Which this time it didn't work anymore. ?“

“I went with a group of people and I confess that I was a little skeptical about the place, based on what I had heard and especially the prices charged. However, fortunately it was a good surprise. The service is discreet and efficient without much conversation, but everything arrives at the table at a good pace. Dinner was long and everything I tried was of excellent quality and with great care in presentation. Above all, the mixed meats were surprising due to their quality, as were the desserts. I liked the room, the environment is more complicated because there are several tables and groups in this case, it makes the environment more stuffy and noisy but that doesn't help, but without disturbing. In short, it won't be a place you can go "always" but it's an excellent option in this city for those looking to eat quality meat and beyond. I didn't have the opportunity to see the wine list because it was already chosen and I can't comment, it will be for analysis on a next visit.

“A hidden gem tucked away in Guimarães, with the most beautiful little terrace to soak up the sunshine.
The restaurant is trendy and modern with gorgeous interiors. The staff are so friendly and the food was AMAZING!! We had their set lunch menu and the shrimp tacos were unreal. Highly recommend visiting and hoping we can squeeze in another visit before we fly home!“

“The concept of the restaurant is quite interesting and different.
The amount of food in all the dishes is quite small, of course it is a gourmet food restaurant, in other words: it is designed to eat all the “4 acts” or 4 dishes and be fine, the idea is not to be full!!
Regarding the quality of the dishes and their flavor: nothing to write home about, they are all really good.⭐️
Just something to point out and easy to improve;
In the “fifth act”, the desserts could be better described because the menu only mentions the ingredients, or flavors, that your dessert will have, it does not mention the texture. In other words, you don’t know if you’re asking for ice cream, a cake, something creamy, something dry and crunchy, etc…
It's not a cheap restaurant, that's clear, but for something different and special, it's good.
Kid-friendliness: They admit children and babies but the care for them is not the best. It is noticeable that they “get in the way”. They could improve on this.“

“We were surprised by the creativity of their dishes. We liked the service, they were very attentive and treated us very well. They are a young team with a great future. They take care of all the details, from the plates to the tablecloths. We liked this small restaurant that goes beyond the Portuguese tourist menu and mixes world dishes with local cuisine.
Vegetarian options: many options, spices and aromas from around the world“

“It was not our first time when this restaurant was “on our radar”, as we visited the region one year before, and wanted to try it out. At that time, my girlfriend felt like the menu was focusing too much on fish, and I can fairly say that, one year later, wow, was she wrong :).
The location itself, whilst not very impressive from the outside, is very cozy and well designed on the inside, just perfect for a relaxed, yet memorable dining experience. The staff was very attentive and their English was spot on (I am Portuguese, but my girlfriend prefers English, so all of the dishes were explained and presented accordingly).
It’s not by chance that one of the menus was called the “Balanced” menu, as for us - who like fine dining, and are no strangers to 1 star Michelin restaurants, especially in Portugal - it was, perhaps, the most perfectly combined set of dishes we ever had.
Chef Antonio Loureiro succeeded in designing the menu in such an incredible way, that every dish (and I do not exaggerate when saying EVERY dish) was as tasty as it comes. The flavors, the attention to detail, but most importantly, the selection of ingredients, were the things that impressed us most. Looking back, it was hard to pick just one dish that stood out…because we liked them all.
We highly recommend this place, as it’s one of those hidden gems, which you should not miss, if you’re a foodie!“

“This place has an amazing vibe. The food is amazing. Vegan options maybe all of the offer of the day... so, just go there and enjoy. Two different size dishes. You choose one, and price is done based on the one you choose. Tea is on the house. Price is amazing. Updated from previous review on 2024-11-17“

“S. Gião in Guimarães is a culinary masterpiece! This exceptional restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. The pasta with shrimps was cooked to perfection, with succulent shrimp and a flavorful sauce. The tiramisu was creamy and divine, and the mushrooms were tender and expertly prepared. But the real surprise was the Smashed Eggs in appetizers - a game-changer!
Every single dish was top-notch, with fresh ingredients, precise technique, and presentation that was almost too beautiful to eat. Almost.
The service was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
S. Gião is a must-visit for anyone in Guimarães looking for an exceptional dining experience. Don't miss out on their outstanding pasta, tiramisu, mushrooms, and Smashed Eggs - your taste buds will thank you!
Highly recommend S. Gião for a truly unforgettable meal in Guimarães. Book your table now and get ready for a culinary journey!“

“Refined and exquisite culinary experience. Dishes cooked with local products. It's been a long time since I had such an experience. Besides, it had fun and experimental sides. In addition, awareness of the ecology of the problem of plastics in the ocean.

Les plats étaient succulents et la sauce miel moutarde était à tomber par terre (je regrette de ne pas avoir demander la recette). “Another great (veggie) lunch in guimaraes. We had the pasta with veggie balls and they were excellent! The service was very friendly. We visited with our little 3 month girl and it was a little noisy and we could not lie her down (no benches), but that did not ruin our experience. The service offered us a baby chair, but she can not sit yet. Thank you for the great food!“

“First of all: this place is quite hidden. You won’t see it from the street you need to enter the building that says “Generation” in the big letters.

“Amazing restaurant! We stumbled upon this place after the first place we went to was booked, and I'm very glad we did. Excellent, honest food without frills at exceedingly fair prices.
For lunch they do the old-school set menu thing with soup plus a choice of 3 or 4 mains. Plus a big jug of tap water for free. Price was 7 euros for just the main or 8 with soup. There's also a selection of desserts at extra cost, around 3 euros each. Everything we ordered was fantastic: veal stew, squid with beans, cheesecake, caramel mousse and chocolate mouse. The setting is also great - nice, funky decor and a very comfortable terrace out back.
The overall vibe was great - you could this is a real passion project. There aren't many places like this around anymore. If you're in Braga, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't regret it.“

“I had been wanting to visit this place for about two years. Now, taking advantage of a few days of rest, I decided to try it out. And it didn't disappoint. Everything excellent, good snacks/brunch. Lots of options to please everyone. Very cozy place and very friendly service. I recommend a visit. You will definitely find something to your liking.
Venting aside... I understand the location, but for those who live in the surrounding area, parking and access are difficult. And on another note, it is a shame that this concept has not yet been adopted in the city of Braga. It was the only one of this genre I found. Something like this would be great to escape the many snack bars that are everywhere. Specialty Coffe places are accurate.“

“We were four people and we did very well.
The choice fell on the Minho and Douro white wine menu.
The four-course menu is always the chef's choice and is only known when they arrive at the table.
The initial bread, crunchy, with sourdough, presided over by well-chosen olive oil and butter with… octopus roe, all received top marks.
Excellence dominated all the dishes, the soup, the fish, the meat and the final sweets, without exception. It is not important to describe them as they will not be the same on a subsequent visit.
The finish was enriched with variations of the abbey of Priscos and petit-gateaux with carrot, again with top marks.
Very professional service.
Very pleasant atmosphere on a Sunday when only one other table was occupied.
To revisit on a special day.“

“An authentic gastronomic treasure hidden in the city of Braga!
Very well maintained rustic house. The menu is very varied, with obvious emphasis on the different ways of serving cod. We chose the same one wrapped in puff pastry, and I guarantee it was the most divine cod I've eaten outside of home in a long time! Only by trying it will you be sure of what I say. Even the cod fritters for starters are a positive surprise as they contain more fish (very tasty!) than potatoes.
Please note that the famous Papas de Sarrabulho are only made in winter, so don't be mistaken! There are Rojões, and the homemade desserts are worth a look... and taste. How wonderful!
The exemplary welcome from Mr. Rolando, who manages the space with his sister, is to be commended. Whether in the food advice or in the two conversations that we pleasantly maintained.
I strongly recommend a visit to this house with excellent homemade food and prices in line with what is served to us. My sincere congratulations!
