At first we wanted to book a table by phone, but no one answered our phone. When we arrived in person, we noticed that the place was already open (it was 5:40 p.m.), where the information posted on the Internet said that the restaurant opens at 6:30 p.m. All the tables in the place were occupied and we were the third family in line. After about 30 minutes of waiting outside, a waitress came to us and asked for a couple because a table for two people had become available. Being with my family (3 people in total), I told the staff that we were waiting for a table for 3 people. In the meantime, other people arrived at the restaurant and were allowed into the premises. No one informed us that there was a list for which we had to sign up, even though I told the staff that I was a customer waiting for a table for 3 people. Despite waiting 1.5 hours and finally adding ourselves to the list, we received information from the waiter that from now on the waiting time would be an additional 2 hours. Both the waiter and the waitress
they turned out to be very rude and rude towards us. It looked as if the staff didn't care about the customer at all. We left disgusted and outraged by the behavior of the young waitress and waiter. We definitely do not recommend it, mainly due to the lack of respect for the potential customer.

I'd highly recommend this restaurant as it offers a great typical experience.
Just a heads-up: they don't take reservations in August, so it's probably best to get on the waiting list around 6 p.m. to avoid long lines.
The portions are huge! You can easily eat almost everything recommended for two for three. But if there are leftovers, you can take them home.
The waiters are attentive and the service is fast.
The only downside is that it's really hot inside in August.

Small, family-run restaurant, we waited for a table for more than 2 hours, it was worth it, one of the best dinners of our lives. If you come to Lagos, it is a must. I recommend the Cataplan, the house specialty. Everyone was very friendly.

It's true you can't book in August, it's true that you have to queue for at least 2 hours (even if you can mostly spend them walking in the center of Lagos), it's true that there are only 30 seats... but the food I ate I haven't eaten this anywhere in Portugal! Generous portions, delicious fish! Very nice and courteous staff! The best of this holiday for me!

If you want to eat typical Portuguese homemade food this is your place. Small place, there are no more than 10 tables which means you have to sign up for the reservation list, we signed up at 7:40 p.m. and they advised us to return around 9:00 p.m., that's what we did and they called us to have dinner at 9:20 p.m. . Very delicious food, generous portions (we had leftovers and they could take it away) pleasant service. We definitely recommend it and if we return we will repeat.

The staff is so rude.
I can’t speak for the food because the waiter lied to me when I made a reservation. I came there and at the time of my reservation and then he totally gave me the run-around!!!
I made a reservation for 930 and he was chastising me for not coming at 920 so he gave my reservation to someone else while lying to me that reservations are not exact times. This is a total lie. If you have a reservation at 930 the you show up at 930 expecting a table. After explaining this and saying I plan my day and I did make a reservation at 930 he just walks away from me. This is so rude and I wish I had the man’s name so I can request he be fired. This is bad service and not human.
I’m not saying the food is bad since I don’t know. And I’m sure it’s really authentic Portuguese food but there are many good authentic Portuguese restaurants in Lagos. Therefore, the staff ought to live up to a standard and be honest with customers and not ignore them. I won’t ever come here again.

We tried to book but couldn't. There were 3 of us arriving around 8:30 p.m. and we waited in line. We were seated at 11 p.m.
Remember to go to the opening to register. Poor organization of reservations, they prioritize groups of 2 or 4 which go before odd groups. Really a shame because the food is good, the servers are a little overwhelmed and very, very noisy because it's a small restaurant without a terrace.

WOW, one of the best food I have tried. The Cataplana for 2 is simply amazing, and extremely big for 2 people. It was a blessing to eat there, will definitely come back in the future. The owners and waiters are extremely kind and you notice there is passion for customer service .

The food here is delicious. I think it was the best dinner we had during our holiday in the Algarve, despite not being the fanciest restaurant. It was hard to get a table at all so we ate at 5.30pm with some help from our air BnB host and it was totally worth it. We had the home style shrimp and the shrimp and clam cataplana. This comes with rice and fried potatoes, so you get a huge amount of food for the money! Absolutely delicious and felt like a really good authentic home cooked experience. No frills or much decor (no ac either and it happened to have been a particularly hot afternoon!) but the vino verde was cold and that certainly helped! I would highly recommended this place for the authenticity of the food and the friendly service. Oh and bring cash!

What a way to enjoy! What a cataplana we have eaten in this place, DELICIOUS. And in a familiar, close environment, with a lot of kindness and good, sincere advice. They have a small and cozy dining room where they offer you delicacies worthy of gods, in addition to the clam and shrimp cataplana, the spaghetti was delicious and the pork dish seemed like it was enough for six people hahaha. We had one of those times that is remembered forever. Thanks Gonzalo to you, your parents and your lovely wife. It is worth returning to the Algarve just to repeat such a good experience.

This place really doesn’t need more hype as it is booked out a week in advance BUT if you are the patient type you can arrive at 5:30 to put your name on a waitlist to get seated after 8:30. Worth the wait? Hell yeah. Food is 10/10, portions are massive so if you want to try more than one thing, bring friends! A group of 4 has a shot at being seated but that line gets wild so come hungry and patient. Staff is super friendly and skilled.
