Ring the Bell! Yes, this is EXACTLY what we did to get admitted on Oct 9, 2023 …my last night visiting Portugal before flying off first thing tomorrow. Told my friends who brought me here, that I feel like going to meet the mafia :) I was told it’s hard to secure a reservation unless there’s some last minute cancellations. Viola ! You get transported into a time warp of the British era, complete with wooden furnishings and waiters formally dressed but certainly not opulent. I find the seating rather cramp and the acoustics poor. Well, when a restaurant boldly advertises herself to have the best steaks in town, how can one possibly skip the steak ? I went for a non-carbs O tradicional bife, served with spinach…. But I suspect their signature creamy sauce is calorie laden. It was probably unique because I rarely eat beef with creamy sauce. The BEST? Ah no. Above average ? Yes. Personally, I’d stick to my Japanese Wagyu. Good selection of wines too. The service however, was impeccable.

Service and food amazing! Would highly recommend. Had the traditional Bitoque steak and was very tasty and tender. Would recommend.

Nice and cosy place with low tables, but a bit small for two to have plates for eating a dinner. Popular and busy that you must book ahead . Otherwise the door will be closed and even if you ring the bell, you will wait for a while and the staff will apologize politely. Luckily we booked more than two weeks ahead .Staff are nice and warm. Food is good but frankly not up to the level of what I have heard about it. One thing needs to be considered.. the loud voice of the staff talking to each other around the bar / service corner and the non-stop mobile ringing and the staff are shy to answer with negative reply due to the limited space. But it still was a nice experience.

My husband and I booked this restaurant as our last night in Lisbon. We were taken back into a time machine the minute we rang the door bell. The waiter greeted us wearing slacks and a vest. This dining experience checked every box with the the silverware on the table, the jazz music and the low lighting. We were reminded of how restaurants used to be when class was a value. The food was exquisite and we were treated to our own waiter. If you want to have a great experience AND good food, go to Cafe De Santo Bento. Its worth every penny. We will be back.

I ate at this restaurant in Time Out market. At best, the food was “fine”, it definitely didn’t taste bad. But I was surprised by how bland the food was and how little flavour it had. I’m by no means a food snob and my bar isn’t high, but even then, I was quite shocked by the lack of flavour in the Portuguese steak I ordered. I would hope diners at the actual restaurant have a better time than this.

I booked this restaurant for our final night in Lisbon and we were not disappointed! We started with some foie gras and a salad. Then followed it up with 2 different house specialties of the steak with chips. We had a wonderful Vallado 2019 red wine which went so well with the steak. I must say the steak was the most tender steak I have eaten in a long time and I loved the sauce with the steak! The restaurant is very cosy and you have to ring a doorbell to get into the restaurant. The service was attentive and we were made to feel very welcome. Dessert was a chocolate cake which was very rich and delicious! For all that we ate and drank it was approx 150 euros which I think is very reasonable for a lovely evening out with great food and wine!

Food was excellent and they have a great wine selection. The filet mignon is not the classic plump and round piece of meat, at first you question if it really is beef filet. It was tender and lean and tasted superb though. The menu is quite rigid and and does not allow for much flexibility, for example, my wife wanted a plain grilled filet mignon with fries but with garlic. This request impossible, what chef has a problem cooking garlic? Curious. Although cozy and warm it is very intimate with other tables adjacent, who can easily hear and join in with your conversation. There is no background music to eliminate your chatter or that of others. Serving staff need to be aware that they are intrusive, when standing at the bar area looking at you, we do not want such intrusion into a romantic night out! Overall, we would return but ask for a more relaxed table away from the direct line of sight and not next to the bar area.

Iconic elegant spot. We definetely had the best dinner in Lisboa. Tender tasty meet and professional service. Everything was over the expectations.

I rarely write reviews, but simply had to for this one. We’re here in Lisbon for a few days with friends in transit, and decided to go to a good steakhouse so that my husband, who lived in the Azores and had fond memories of a steak dish there, could try to reproduce the experience. He described it to our server and was rewarded with exactly what he remembered. A little bit of magic! Our server made different recommendations for the rest of us and we were all thoroughly pleased. Even though we were full we ordered the “best chocolate cake in the world” to share, thinking we’d each have a bite. Oh my, I think they’re right. It’s more of a chocolate pie than cake - definitely worth every calorie. The evening was wonderful, from the excellent wine and food recommendations to the good hearted teasing from one of our servers. It makes me smile to think about it. This restaurant is on the list for our next trip to Lisbon. Make reservations - it’s quite a small space.

My wife and daughter ended up spending almost 300€ for 3 steaks, 2 beers, 1 orange juice, chips, egg, desert and 2 expressos. This restaurant it’s an old house where you eat without privacy on a possible conversation at dinner. The promise of the best steak in Lisbon was horrible, how is it possible this can happen in a country like Portugal! Others said this restaurant only survives because millionaires working to the Portuguese parliament next to it dine and lunch there all the time. I still made a recommendation on their Instagram page for 3 times and they kept deleting my smart and well detailed posts. That shows that new management works like dictators and they don’t really care about consumers opinion because they have the “good ol boys” from the government with tax payers money supporting them. The final quiz is that we found much better options for much less. Portugalia Restaurant in Belem or across town, with tender loin steak with much better meat and sauce. Stay smart and avoid this vampires.

It’s hard to describe an experience in this restaurant. It is very discrete. You have to ring a bell to get in and you arrive into a red curtain. The restaurant is several floors, we were on the second floor. It has the feel of a private club. It is all red with plaid accents and pillow on the booths. Each floor is very intimate. If you want to go out and be loud with friends and drink this is not a good destination. Each floor is very small with a handful of tables so everyone spoke in hushed tones. The service was impressive and 100% fine dining. They serve steaks in multiple ways and cooking style. Very Portuguese and authentic. We tried the pineapple carpaccio for desert and it was just ok but the rest of the meal was excellent.

My wife loves steak, so we wouldn't pass on a good steak house in Lisbon. The place will bring you back in time- old but very elegant, you even have to ring a doorbell to let you in. We were seated by the window on the 2nd floor which I think was much more comfortable than the 1st floor. I think they reserve this floor for couples because I noticed that there were 3 other couples who dined on the same floor. I ordered the traditional Portuguese steak, and my wife had the steak with ham and garlic. It was very different from how we cook our steaks at home, but it was surprisingly good. A great place to have dinner with your loved one.
