Great restaurant! The bread with chorizo ans cheese was AMAZING, as wete the mushroms, the pork cheeks and the lamb. Fantastic food, the highlight of pur trip! Add to that cute artsy decor and fun and friendly waiters - a perfect night.

EXCELLENT. I'm italian and here I've eaten as like few places before. The food is really really amazing... really. Finally a very good Portuguese restaurant! Approved for everything. The staff is impeccable, kind, careful, professional, handy, friendly, they treat you as a king. The interior design is very nice and very comfortable. First and foremost, the overall experience turned out amazing. Not only our young server had an exquisite English speaking level, but he also talked us through the menu confidently, providing us with great recommendations. The food was beautiful, one of the best dinners we had in the city during our 4 days trip. The restaurant also had a lovely atmosphere and decoration which made our evening even more pleasant. Many thanks to our waiter and the rest of staff members.

I usually don’t write bad reviews but my first dinner experience in Lisbon at Altar was so insulting. Our rude waitress (who later introduced herself as Riksha(?)) came to take order with a scowl shortly after we sat. I asked some questions about the fish food, and as I wasn’t sure about the ingredients she explained and I changed my choice from Cod, to sea bass but last minute my husband suggested to try the Octopus as this restaurant is well known for it. At this point she had the worst behaviour I have ever seen in a restaurant and mocked us within earshot at front desk, said we were confused and stupid, as if we couldn’t hear her a meter away. Very rude and insulting. When her colleagues asked her about her disgusting behaviour, in front of us in Portuguese she tried justifying it as she thought we wouldn’t understand. The whole interaction soured the mood for us for the rest of the evening which is unfortunate as it is a nice location. The rest of the staff were nice and polite, and the octopus was delicious, even with the bad taste in mouth from the behaviour shown. In general I don’t recommend this restaurant if your waitress is Riksha.
