Chose Bastardo for our 'big dinner out' on our recent stay in Lisbon.
It was good on the whole but for the prices I was disappointed.
The food was good and it arrived promptly.
However the drink service was very slow and the waiters not attentive enough to realise.
They seemed more interested in getting you through the service so they could clear up and relay the table ready for the next customer. This perhaps works during the day...
Ambience is casual. Good place for a date, friends or quiet families :)

Service is very friendly. Greeter and waiter were both fluent in English (but you should still try to learn some basic words).

Great cocktail menu. We tried Lisbon mule. The ginger beer is soft and a bit sweet, I will have it again!

On to the food. I went for the prawn, avocado and mango salad. Too few prawns and too much spinach. The dressing was well...
Despite the few recent negative reviews, we decided to give Bastardo a chance and we absolutely do not regret this choice. Between the starters (octopus croquettes / salmon tartare) and the dishes (fish and seafood stew / sea bass on mashed potatoes) everything was there, the taste, the texture! All this enhanced by a calm atmosphere in a fairly chic space, smiling and not oppressive staff, means that I 100% recommend this restaurant.
PS: bonus point for Portuguese white...
