The bifana place Bourdain went to was closed for holidays, so I found this (also highly recommended) place. There was a line and it was busy, so I thought I might not get a table (and that that might be a problem) but when I walked in there was a counter where and older Portuguese dude was chowing down on a bifana and a glass of wine, so I just pointed to him, got what he was having and stood there devouring it. We went in to have a beer and finished with a juicy and tender bifana. Adult waiters, with experience in customer service. The beer is a bit expensive (€3) but it is a central location.
Good food and well served. However, it does not accept credit cards, with the excuse that “the ATM machine is broken”, something that, in fact, I came across in several other places in Portugal. It would be simpler and more honest if they said, CLEARLY, that they do not accept cards. In the case of this restaurant there was a small sign at the top of a shelf (just to say that we were not warned) that we were only shown when paying the bill.
