I rarely write reviews, but this meal warranted one. The best steak I’ve ever eaten and coming from New York, an accessible yet outstanding option. We were absolutely thrilled with our experience and will be planning a trip back solely for this meal. Thank you Cafe de Sao Bento!

Definitely worth a visit and reservation is a must. From atmosphere to food, everything was great. Also the older gentleman who served us (sorry we didn't get his name) was exceptional! Kind, friendly, and humorous. We were very well taken care of during entire dinner. The Traditional Cafe De Sao Bento style steak was to die for and every dish was outstanding. It's definitely a Lisboa institution!

It was such a unique experience. Their creamy, traditional way of cooking steak is perfect. I loved to dip my fries into that creamy sauce.

Thorougly enjoyed our first night in Lisbon with a dinner at Café São Bento! A very beautiful and atmospheric location with a lovely staff. The specialty steak was to die for, as we felt in heaven when we ate it. 11/10 would recommend!

Fantastic place, great food, beautiful interior! I had a lunch today with a friend I don´t see often, so we wanted good food and also a place for a good conversation without being rushed. Service was very attentive but unobtrusively so, totally right. And, yes, I have to admit, we did order the extra sauce and bread to mop it up. BTW: we both also felt that the prices were quite ok for the quality of the meat we got; not a small feat in Lisbon these days, as it is getting very expensive while offering less and less...We both LOVED this place and will come again, as soon as we can.

I never write reviews, but felt obliged after this one. Buzzed the door and a man with a white shirt, bow tie, and a plaid vest answered the door and asked if I had a reservation. I didn’t have one and he told me they couldn’t seat me so I asked if I could have a drink at the bar given the reviews.

Had a beer and the 2nd best old fashioned I’ve ever had and luckily, someone didn’t show up for their reservation so I got seated after 40 minutes.

Ordered the foie gras (10/10) to start and knew I was having something special that evening. The traditional steak was AWESOME, but not as good as the former plate but the vibe, the drinks, and the service were top of the line. Make a reservation and come here, it won’t disappoint.

I travel to Portugal twice a year
(Spring and Fall) this restaurant is always at the top of my list as one of my favorite restaurants in Lisbon... It is truly an authentic old school traditional restaurant with AMAZING food, service, and ambiance. Put it on your list you won't regret it!
Be sure to make a reservation,
and don't forget....you need to ring the front door bell to get in.

For the decor! For the service as for the cuisine, we are a bunch of gogos. It's not good.

In its boudoir style of the 1930s, of a Club reserved for its elite, you have to ring the closed doorbell. The interior has the old-fashioned charm of a distinguished institution. The service is (too) affable. The food is very average and disappointing for the price: the portions are inadequate, the fries lukewarm and the tartare too spicy to be fair, the shrimp overcooked. A tired and lackluster kitchen. Yet it’s charming, confidential, out of our time lacking good cuisine. The wine list is good but without surprises. There must be two or four (maximum) there and no children. Otherwise you risk being inappropriate and unwelcome.

Best restaurant experience we have ever had! I highly recommend coming here when visiting lisbon, dressed nicely and ready for a night of your life. Definitely get the Foie Gras for starter, it was exceptionally good paired with Moscatel liquor.

The service was incredible and we felt extremely taken care of. The waiter Nunu made us feel very special when celebrating my girlfriends birthday. 5/5 we are definitely coming back!
