Good tacos for a good price! The view is amazing and they also have live music! Don't like the other dish types, only the tacos.

Hello, I'm Portuguese and somehow found myself spending a tragic Saturday evening at La Siesta. How did it came to happen - the hungry reader might ask - picking a Mexican place in the vibrant city of Lisbon, filled with wonderful Portuguese traditional cuisine places, featuring the Mediterranean gastronomy, one of the world's healthiests diets? What could be the powerful reason that would force me to make such poor judgement? Exactly, none. My group of posh friends however, had been nourishing the ideia of spending a warm evening drinking margaritas while enjoying the beautiful sunset over Belém. This turned out to be nothing nothing more than an idea though. In reality, we spent our evening sitting at a side table, most of the time demanding much more from our vocal cords than they were ready to deliver, due to the loud latin american music playing in the background. The margaritas did eventually arise but no trace of alcohol seemed to be included in their recepy - perhaps a new healthier menu version they didn't warn us about. We ordered a few different starters which turned out to be small and overpriced portions of Doritos covered with ordinary sources. For the main courses we went for tacos. We were at Mexican place after all. The extremely small and ordinary taco portions were filled with disappointment and accompanied with regret: yes, the side dishes were extra and not included at all. They didn't taste bad but weren't good either. The only exquisite touch one could identify on that meal was the price. We surely ended up both hungry and angry, talking about my conservative right-wing political beliefs as arguably, it's in occasions like these we tend to be more vocal and and inflexible about the need for protecting our nacional costumes and traditions (Gastronomy obviously included). I hate my friends now and I'm pretty sure the feeling has become mutual. This restaurant even stole its name from an old and renowned portuguese strip club located in Santarém, a better choice to spend an evening at all regards. Do yourself a favour and go to Santarém's La Siesta instead. For any emerging moral or ethical conflicting thoughts your mind may come across, think you'll be helping a very fragile and surely unprotected sector of the needy Portuguese economy.

Nice place with great view on the river Tejo. The food and flavors are nice but with a lac of quantité for the price you pay.

Visited the restaurant last week. It was in a nice location. Quite a nice menu but limited vegetarian choices. The food came quite quickly but it wasn't anything special. It wasn't very warm and wasn't what I would call authentic Mexican food. I could knock something up myself with microwave Mexican style rice and a few spices which would be more authentic. The waitresses/waiters were terrible. No interaction whatsoever. We didn't leave a tip. They gave the impression that they weren't interested because we couldn't speak Portuguese. We hadn't encountered this anywhere else - they had all been friendly in other restaurants. I wouldn't recommend going here.

We booked in advance a table for 8 people. When we got there, there was a line of people that were awaiting tables with no reservation. We approached the person that managed reservations and tables and said we had a reservation. The answer we got was “back off immediately, please”, which, at the very least, is rude. We waited for another ten minutes with no response. We ended up joining our group inside when we realised some people were already seated. After picking food from the menu we waited for one hour and a half to get it. Service was terrible, people were rude, food was bland and really delayed and it was really pricy. An experience to avoid in the future…

Second visit, first visit wasn’t wowed by the food but willing to try again. Booked a table for 9:30, arrived with lots of people waiting, some didn’t have a reservation fair enough (Lisbon now anywhere you go you really need to book) the people in-front of us were already waiting 20 minutes WITH a reservation. We waited 15. Food - really average I’ve had better in a lot of places. We had starters and mains, 5 minutes after the starters arrived they brought the mains.. which is not normal, we questioned in and the waitress asked “did you request for it to come after?” Well.. is it not normal to finish a starter before the main… so we had so many plates on our small table was really uncomfortable. I ordered the fajitas which came with 2 small wraps.. complete joke, I requested more wraps especially for the price. Service overall was slow. Drinks were nice, reasonably priced, the margaritas were too slushy. They had a lot of people clearing other tables who were unable to serve… vs the people who could actually serve… the payment situation you have to pay like you do in a bar, queuing up at the end of your meal with everyone else which is not ideal, you do not pay at your table. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend for an evening meal, there are much better Mexicans within lisbon and more easily accessible with better food. For 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 deserts, 1 margarita jug, 2 tequilas and 2 cocktails it was 100 euros. For locals lisbon is becoming ridiculous for what we get paid.

As two American expats longing for a good Mexican meal, we decided to try La Siesta since we were in the Belem area. The location is delightful-right on the river with free parking up the street. The decor, music, and ambiance are great but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered a Margarita on the rocks after specifically saying I didn’t want a frozen one. However, it turns out that all they serve are frozen ones in a variety of flavors and that’s what they brought me. Along with Margaritas, we ordered salsa and chips. These arrived in two small cups-one for a handful of chips and the other for a few spoonfuls of salsa. The menu had a great selection of offering. My friend selected the chicken fajitas snd I chose the enchiladas en mole. Don’t expect a sizzling platter with the fajitas. They were lukewarm when they arrived at the table accompanied by black bean, Mexican rice, watery guacamole, and two flour tortillas. I was shocked when my enchiladas en mole arrived. Having learned to make mole in Mexico, I was looking forward to the thick fragrant ground chiles snd chocolate sauce. However, my enchiladas were smothered in a sour cream sauce with some green chili sauce on the side. After questioning the waitress because I thought they’d brought me the wrong order, I went ahead and ate this strange concoction. I wouldn’t bother to come here unless it is to sit by the water and drink a slushy Margarita.
