We’d been eating all day, so wanted something simple and easy, staying at the Marriott nearby. I’ve been keeping an eye out for “frango assado” and this little takeaway is 5 minutes away on foot. The cheerful owner greeted us in English and explained his limited menu (it’s Sunday, so perhaps that’s the reason), we chose a whole chicken (with spicy sauce) and sausages, simply grilled over charcoal. We didn’t have to wait long, walked back to the hotel and it was still piping hot, and absolutely delicious. I love finding little places which do their thing really well, and charge very reasonable prices. Highly recommend, very tasty, & excellent value, but bring cash, as they don’t accept cards.

We had a wonderful meal here! The menu was extensive, hard to pick options, but we did. The pork cheeks were incredible and the ribs were delicious! We had black pork cheeks previously, but the grilling sealed the flavor in even more (if that is possible)! And the ribs were delicious! Their pre/post dinner drink menu and wine list were extensive and pleasing! And we had Helder as our waiter who took great care of us! He was especially good with our dietary restrictions. Everything was grilled and the French fries were made in a dedicated fryer so a perfect gluten-free meal! It is off the beaten path, but definitely a place to check out, at least for lunch (they had 1/2 or full options, and the 1/2 was enough for a meal!).
