By far, the best Japanese I have had in Portugal and outside of Japan. Omakase. Inventive, beautiful presentation and super fresh ingredients. Worth every penny.

I was throughly impressed with the careful preparation and attention to detail of the vegan food. Any vegans wishing to dine here should give the restaurant advance notice (we let them know several days ahead) as this is not typical of kaiseki cuisine in Japan. The food was delicious with delicate flavours and exquisite presentation. The chefs took time to explain the flavours and composition. I couldn’t have left happier as did my fellow non vegan diners. A perfect night.

This restaurant is simply not special in any way. The food isn't special, the preparation isn't special, the process isn't special, the experience isn't special. They serve torched nigiri here, with a torch. Ma in Coimbra goes above and beyond and orders a special Japanese grill, with special imported Japanese charcoal, and that's how they torch the fish. The traditional way. They spend tons of money to improve things by maybe 10%, that's what fine dining is all about. I'm not even convinced Kanazawa is maturing fish. This is no better than a regular sushi restaurant but with some dishes coming at you in sequence, called moments. Maybe this was just meant to be a casual omakase and because it got a Michelin star we now have high expectations and they aren't met.

Congratulations to chef Paulo and his entire team.
We had a great experience at the Kanazawa restaurant, from the Miso to the sushi made by the chef, to the wine pairing... Best wishes

It was an amazing experience!Everything was very fresh and delicious. Big variety of fish. The Portuguese Chef with experience from Japan was very attentive and kind. I would definitely come back.Interesting and maybe important to know before going is that Chef doesn’t serve salmon (mainly because “it can be contaminated with various bacteria and our focus is on local fish”). Important if your kids only eat salmon. We didn’t miss salmon so much, due to a big variety of fish.Always important to reserve, for dinner you need to reserve around 2 months in advance, while for lunch you can be lucky and get a spot within 2-3 days.Really recommend this place.

A unique, refined and absolutely delicious experience. The chef prepares the dishes served before our eyes and explains them to us, always ready to answer our questions. The service is very attentive. We tasted a 9-course Kaiseki menu with each flavor carefully researched, and we were won over! A big thank you to the chef and his team, for this superb evening and for the little birthday attention :)

A small, intimate japanese omakase with just 7-8 seats. The experience was truly amazing, highlighted by the chef's passion for Japanese cuisine and his attentive service. A memorable part of the meal was the variety of rare Japanese citrus. The standout was the sea urchin - undoubtedly one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. Please go there with someone special, and appreciate the master’s skills and knowledge. Worth every penny.
