A very good place to enjoy a good moment of fado while having a meal, sharing some snacks or enjoying some good drinks. Welcoming atmosphere, the food is very good. It is not a cheap place, however, you will not find a lower price in this type of house. It's an experience to repeat :)

We hesitated whether to go or not because of the bad reviews, but seeing that all the places in the area were criticized for the same aspects, we decided to take a risk and go. We are very happy because in the end we loved it. It is true that it is not a cheap place, but taking into account that the food was delicious, that the fado was INCREDIBLE (really hair-raising, the singer was excellent and so were the musicians), that the place was very cool, The area in which it is located is modern... we think it was worth it. It was a special experience in Lisbon and as such I recommend it.

We reserved on their website, picked a slot offered, got a confirmation, and once we got there on time. They told us that they didn’t do service at that time, that their website was wrong. No message, or call prior to warn us. We had to fallback on something else in a late evening.

We went to Povo to eat during a Fado concert.
The latter was of high quality (well done to the artists), however the service was long (30 min for a cheese board, forgetting the coffees), some dishes were delicious, like the meat accompanied by celery puree, others left something to be desired (the egg sausage for example which looked like mush).
Apart from this detail, the servers were very pleasant and made an effort to use the language so that everyone could understand each other.
The budget must be taken into account (€5 per person to support the artists), in total we got 153 euros for 4 people.

A lovely little space. Feels like you are in a theatre. Food was good and similar to being in a theatre too (some gluten free options but not loads). Staff are friendly and attentive, given the busy street! The performers are wonderful and the environment is very intimate and special. A really good, friendly and positive environment.

We pay for the hazing of tourists. Maybe another day, hopefully the singer is better, but when we went at intermission, several of the attendees left due to the bad musical experience. If you want to listen to fado go to the Alfama neighborhood. As for the food, I thought several times about calling the cook to try it and I didn't do it out of politeness. There were literally inedible dishes. If you want to have a drink, fine, but eat better than not or you will waste your money and it will be expensive.

Excellent music, I enjoyed all the dishes and the drinks. Reasonably priced, especially given that you are watching Fado on a major tourism street.

Incredible experience with an amazing service! The revisit of some classic dishes like "açorda" was a must.
And of course, the fado that touched my soul was insanely good! Can't recommend enough!

Perfect place to listen to fado. Good typical Portuguese food, honest price and perfect atmosphere. You spend €5 to listen to the performance and then what you consume. Highly recommended!

We had a very good experience. Nice music and nice people. The food could be a little better since there was not so
Much choice and the price was a bit high.

the food is nice but pink street is ughhh and fado is kinda boring...surely there are more authentic spots if this music is really your thing.

I think, I was lucky that I found this place. Planning my trip to Lisbon, I didn't spend much time searching for locations with fado performance. I didn't have a lot of information where to go. I chose Povo because of an easy reservation system and the possibility to book a table for one person (I was travelling alone, and not every location had this option). I also saw some positive feedback about Povo on the Internet, but there were also some negative comments. I really don't understand the last ones. My experience was even better than I expected. Tasty, fresh food. The staff were very kind. And the show was just the top. The performance was soo touching, to the tears.. Even if you don't know the language, you have the feeling that you understand each word and can't stop crying. Thank you very much! I wish good luck to the team of Povo!

The only positive: Intimate and well placed place.
However, the waiter was not at all friendly... not taking into account warming up a pot for a baby. I asked for orders from the start, then repeated the request twice for him to bring it before the singer started, I was told “yes yes” and they still didn’t bring me the pot. On the other hand, to serve adult customers, no worries!! A child has the same needs as an adult. In addition, when I went to ask for it at the counter, I was yelled at and infantilized and asked to be quiet because the singer was singing while I came and whispered to give me this damn pot that I had been waiting for 1 hour!
Not even a teaspoon to lend. Originally from Portugal, the restaurateurs are usually very kid friendly and above all human.
As for the food, don't eat there, the super spicy chicken dish is almost inedible. Just have one drink.
Fado artist of the moment satisfactory for the amateur (as announced on the site) but nothing extraordinary.
