Arrived late, one of the few places in the city that’s open for food. Despite ordering a side and being the only people there, our food took over thirty minutes to arrive. As well as that, as you can see in the attached photo, the cutlery was not clean at all.

Maybe this place is good for drinks and relaxing, the server did seem kind - but a lack of clean cutlery as well as the waiting time makes it a pass for me. The toilet wasn’t dirty, but the walls were indeed graffitied.

And yes, the place only accepts cash and asks you to go to a nearby ATM to pay.

This is a surprisingly excellent, comfy place to eat. Surprising because it’s just 30 steps down from the famous Bifanas do Afonso which always has very long lines of waiting customers. Madalena is much less crowded so you get
served quickly and the food is even better (and healthier) than Afonso, IMHO. I eat ketogenic, so I had their bunless hamburger topped with an egg and it came with not one, but two, high quality, delicious and generous-sized patties. Highly recommended.

Top bifana and wine! We come here very often with friends. Allways very good service, very good and tasty food and top service!They always take care of us, and their food is amazing! Also you can find everything here to take away for home. We often take wines as they have a large variety of wines and different alcoholic drinks, good rum and whiskey, super top tequila. They are open till late and if you're in a rush, you can take a bifana sandwich, amazingly good at only 3 euros!!!!We will continue to come for all the time we'll be in Lisbon... and we already are here for 6 months! Strongly recommend!!!

As soon as I paid, the “chef” was confused on how to do the order. Describing the food as inedible is an understatement. It’s the WORST food I have tried from Lisbon so far. I went back to tell the men about how the food was raw and not the “housesteak” I ordered. The steak was full of nerves, and honestly couldn’t eat it even if I starved. Save yourself money and don’t come here!

Great spot to share a bottle of wine with friends! Very friendly and helpful staff. Large selection of wine and lots of seating upstairs. Great place for a chill night out!
