My husband's dish took a long time to bring and they invited him and did not charge for his dessert... the deference came out of them. We were three. Modest wine and a dessert in mind. 150 euros. Good food but it wasn't spectacular either

That's the type of restaurant we love, real good food with good service.
It's traditional Portuguese restaurant but you can also feel they keep innovating through the details of the food not just the fancy plating like other "modern restaurants" with beautiful interior design but don't focus enough on the food itself, which should be the soul of any restaurant: provide good or even great food for its customers.
Seafood rice with lobster is very tasty. Entrecosto is very good. Black pork (porco preto) is just OK. Duck rice is amazing!!
Except one thing we don't like (we have cone many times and it always does so): There are many starters already on the table, which are not free. Be careful!

BEWARE. You will feel either fooled or robbed at the end of your Solar dos Nunes experience. They wait for you with the table full of starters some people might believe are for free (they're not), then they will most likely charge your bill 50 euros more "by mistake". As I read here in the comments, it happens so often that it's definitely not by accident. Admitedly, the iberian ham was good, the mushroom salad was good, but everything else was average at best and anyway NOTHING would make up for them deliberately wanting to steal from you. "By accident."

I love the cold plats! The octopus, olives, mushrooms, cheese ~ I was so satisfied with them! And I saw the waiters were very nice to a disability person ~! They are very kind people! I will be there next time and tipping them a lot! Very very recommend!

I’ll address a few (obvious) hot topics. 1) they do have apps at the table when you sit down. They’re “chef recommended”. Our waiter didn’t tell us they’re optional, but I heard a waiter tell another table they were. Simply put the ones you don’t want at the edge of the table and say “we don’t need these”. It is silly for people to think that it’d just be free, but it understand how it could be frustrating if you didn’t read reviews and know first. 2) We knew what we wanted, had a fado show to get to and were able to get in and out in one hour (felt bad; but was on a time crunch) 3) the waiter actually will tell you if you’re ordering too much as I tried to do. The fish soup (delicious) makes 3 bowls of soup, so depending how hungry you are you might not need another plate.
The taste is amazing. The place is classy. I recommend it.
We got rid of the cheese and octopus starters and had the fish soup. It was 83€.

2 times at this restaurant. Good food and lots of choice. Typical dishes and generous portions. However, I think I was unlucky at the table I got. At the entrance there was a lot of confusion. Orders from all the tables were passed around there and there was a lot of confusion. The worst, a super sick employee with a cold who kept sneezing wherever he happened to go and when he blew his nose he didn't disinfect his hands... then picking up glasses, plates, cutlery... Experience this time not very pleasant.

We got recommended by local tour guide. The food is fine. However the service isn’t great especially the “ cash only “ fuss at the end. We were demonstrated how the card machine was not working and I was directed to the ATM two blocks away. Walking in the afternoon sun only to find the ATM was not working. When I came back and told them it wasn’t working somehow the “connection issues” were fixed magically and the card worked just fine. As a Tripadvisor hotspot for visitors I find it hard to believe and after reading some reviews it’s perplexing how coincidentally such incidents happen so frequently following the same pattern. The waiter who served us is not friendly at all, if anything, very impatient and indifferent. The service is not what you expect from a restaurant in this price range.
