Our reservation was for 830pm, and when we arrived at 825pm, we were told to come back in 5 lol. We thought it was kind of hilarious, but the gentleman, 5 minutes later, very warmly welcomed us in.

We were settled into a cozy space with walls filled with memories, and served our choice of wine. We went with the vinho verde. Easy going and crisp! (P.s. Refills are bottomless and if your wine has been out for a while they will swap your bottle for a new cold one!)

The food is a set menu and is whatever they're cooking that night.

We had what seemed like endless appetizers: olives, tuna pâté, marinated peppers and fava beans, with cheese and bread, followed by an absolutely delicious warm chorizo and blood sausage dish, and soup! I could've dunked my face into a vat of the peppers and fava beans... so good!

Main courses arrived and we shared some codfish on rice, as well as a veal stew. The stew was the highlight for me as the sauce was reduced to perfection, and I scooped it all up with the rice.

Finally, dessert arrived and we were stuffed. Chocolate cake and something creamy with pineapple? Coffee and tea upon request are included and necessary, after all the food and wine!

Now, the fado is impeccable! We had 2 extremely talented singers and you could just feel the soul in their performances!! Everyone was swaying and clapping by the end of the evening with each song. Absolutely incredible. They are a bit strict and ask you to kindly be silent, but they honestly didn't need to ask because the performances were stunning and left us gasping for more. We had 6 rounds of fado, 3 each from the gentleman and lady, as well as a bonus tribute to the accompanying musicians.

Be prepared to be there for a while though. We were there until well past midnight! Also, don't forget that it is a cash only spot! In Aug 2024, it was 55euros pp and they do not expect tips. (But tip anyway!)

Go and be wowed! It was such an amazing way to spend a first night in Lisbon! Highly highly recommend this experience!

Great experience of Portugal culture. The food is amazing, and every single dish was better than the previous one. Good music, great artist, and the host is the soul of the place.

Place take your time and talk with them. They'll make you feel part of the family.

100% recommended

Mediocre food, BUT I would return only for the great fado experience.
We went there for dinner (booked 2 weeks in advance).
We got to the place at 9pm, most of the tables already eating, fado already started (first disappointment, considering I got a text 2 days before the dinner saying the performance would start at 21:30… so we got in late, waiting the performance to have a break). As soon as we sat down and a break in the music show was coming the food started being served (it is a fixed menu place, so no choices; this fact is confirmed also in the text you get 3 days before, but might be a bad surprise if you just get in the place with no reservations). A number of appetizers/tapas were brought to the table, mostly cold and tasting pre-pre-pre-pre-prepared (the taste of fried food is the one you spot the food was prepared some time before). Then at other breaks we were served the warm food (stuffed veal with white rice and cod) and finally the desserts, the only food I liked. Food wise, the announced “Tasting menu, a journey through some Portuguese gastronomy”, was the worst meal I got in one week in the area.
BUT…
The fado exhibition was a sequence different artists performing next to the tables. The intimacy of this type of music and atmosphere is created having the lights switched, while quality of sound and voices are amazingly good due to an arch under which the singers and musicians are performing. The performances were a sequence of very touching songs, belonging to 5 different exhibitions of 10-15 min and distributed over a good 2.5 hours. 2 musicians and 5 singers are performing). Highly recommended!
Last info (and disappointment): the payment is cash only, even if while reserving you are requested to do a pre-payment via internet of the 25% of the total expense (fix menu=fix price). In 2024… a bit unconventional

Parking: Place is in Alfama streets, so car is to be parked down the river, or you should get there walking, by public transport or taxi.

I had a wonderful evening at Tasca da Bella! The atmosphere was incredible, with typical Portuguese singers who really knew how to get everyone in the festive spirit. The meal was simply delicious, hearty and representative of Portuguese cuisine. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants an authentic and memorable experience. An address not to be missed !

Having sent me a confirmation email, they then cancelled my reservation less than an hour before our booking was scheduled for. The cancellation email was automated, provided no explanation and was unapologetic. I did try to call the restaurant several times, however no reply. Made plans for the evening very complicated as we were celebrating a special event.

It had everything to be a nice night, but the truncated information on the part of the establishment got in the way! Once the reservation was made, I was contacted via WhatsApp. The content of the information said that for groups, 25% would have to be paid in advance! What is the definition of a group? And how can I pay if I never received a payment link? In the message sent, I had to inform that the reservation was subject to payment of the amount, but this information did not come and my reservation was canceled with 30 minutes to go before we arrived! I called and we were able to reinstate the reservation! But it was stress! Dinner was average: very hot wine, not much food, and very little fado, the star of the night! In 4 hours, two rounds of fado, 8 songs only! A shame because what saved the night was the friendliness of those who served us and the quality of the fado singers! And to make matters worse, the establishment only accepts cash. And of course, this information was also withheld from us. When it came time to pay, it was a good thing we had money. But imagine if we didn't??? We will hardly return

Most amazing and unique experience you can have in Lisbon! Menu course with wine (as much as you want) for 55 euros!
Food is just amazing! Bela cooks and serves and it is a sweet person! Amazing fado over the menu course with different singers, overall a 4 hour dinner with fado! Just go! Need to reserve but I could get seats to the same day!

Absolutely incredible! I can’t say enough amazing things about my experience here. The owner was so lovely and kind. There was so much food and it was all delicious. And the music wow I was just blown away. It couldn’t have been better!!!

I saw some reviews saying 55 euros was expensive for the experience but I couldn’t disagree more. It was about 4 hours of food, unlimited wine and amazing music. I recommend everyone come here!!!

Thank you Bela!!!!

Nice food, several dishes served between the music sessions, nice music (typical fado) but extremely overrated at 55 eur per person.

We need a complete and recent comment (April 2024) to really explain what is happening in this 55euro formula. You book online on the site to be sure of having a place. You sit down and you are served a nice starter of different specialties. Unlimited wine or other drink included. When all the customers are seated and everyone is served, the first concert begins with the lights going out. The musicians are extremely talented artists and the Fado repertoire is not your average playlist. A singer came to recite poems. The lights come back on and the music allows the cook to prepare the second course.Concert services.... from 8 p.m. to midnight. You sympathize with your neighbors and suddenly you're in another world. It's truly incredible to experience this as a couple, with family or with friends. The comments below the quote mention high prices which have increased and at the expense of the customer etc.Yes, most of the space is used all evening by customers who pay for the fado evening and some customers sometimes come to eat a meal or have a drink.Congratulations to the waitresses and the owner who are alone to manage everything! It's a total wonderful experience that we go through all evening.Unlimited wine, typical dishes in 6 courses with coffee in a unique friendly and family setting with incredible musicians and fadistas. I find the price to be completely reasonable. It's an unforgettable experience.I love this place! THANKS !

A really nice place in Alfama. The boss welcomes you like a mother and grandmother. The service is attentive.Fado: male, female and guitarist voices of good quality and beauty! We had dinner from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.… and we also had poems recited by a customer friend of the owner. The meal is VERY hearty and good. Surely our best memory with our teenagers of our week in Lisbon. We recommend.

I dreamt a lot about a Fado Night. With the help of a colleague I heard about Tasca da Bela, I flew from Turkey, and I was here. The whole night was just I dreamt about. The restaurant is very little and traditional. You have the bread in a basket, but under the bread there is a lace just like in Turkey. Even the little toilet is very cute. The starters are enough and delicious. Then you have a tasty soup. Then the main dish comes, morina fish with spinach and rice. Then the dessert came. You have a vine alternatives as red, white, green, and rose. There is no limit until the end. There were four singers. The songs were wonderful. The owner, Annabelle is very nice and kind. It is 55€ for each person. It is very good price for that night. I strongly advise the place. Thanks a lot.
