The hotel and restaurante were closed. We relaxed walking around the beautiful grounds, exploring the Covent (they even let us ring the bells) and walking trails. We should have brought a picnic as there were picnic tables along the way.

To repeat, without a doubt!

The lovely space saves the wait staff from being inattentive. In a restaurant with these prices we expected a more careful and diligent service. Unsurprising dishes.

I visited this place, very beautiful place well maintained calm and relaxing. However, I did not eat and I did not sleep there. The place is rather accessible and even without eating there and booking a night there it is worth the detour.I highly recommend if you are in the area to visit this place.
Good wines and beautiful place… but very average food and bad service. Employees go out of their way to assure you that you are not welcome.

We stayed overnight at the hotel and had both dinner and breakfast here. The dining room is simply over the top in terms of Manueline decor. Breakfast was an amazing spread of delicious food and a beautiful view of the gardens. Dinner was very nice, good service. The menu is somewhat limited and the food was very good. Prices are high, especially for wine- You are paying for the experience of dining in this rather unbelievable setting.
I can’t believe the four and five stars this restaurant has received! This place was the worst meal I have ever had. We looked forward to staying at the palace for months and truly enjoyed the scenery and history, but we were deeply disappointed with the on-site restaurant and dinner. First off, the five of us had the hardest time even choosing something off the menu that even sounded good. We ordered the carpaccio as an appetizer and it was disgusting. Not even chewable. The bread was good but we never received the flute of sparkling brut nor olive oil. The wines were only by bottle and were absurdly priced. In fact it was the only restaurant we didn’t order alcohol. My mom and I went with the tomato salad and carrot and vegetable soup…because…how can you screw up a salad?? We joked about the salad only coming with tomatoes and lo and behold…that’s all that came. It was literally two cherry tomatoes cut in half on top of one sliced stewed tomato. The soup didn’t lie, it had one shriveled pea and one carrot chunk. My daughter chose the beet rice. Literally looked like pink baby food. We ordered dessert only because we were still hungry…I had the Bussaco morgado. Not edible nor tasty. My daughter had the apple pie and my other sweet-tooth daughter even refused a second bite when my first daughter tried to push it off to her. The entire meal was over 250 euros and a complete joke. We ended up sitting in the lobby and laughing so hard we were crying over the reviews other have left. We even joked with some of the other patrons who stopped at the bad appetizers or forced themselves through the meal like we did. It was a fantastic way to bond with some of the other guests, but what a waste of money. Avoid this restaurant completely, trust me.
Vegetarian options: Tasteless and overpriced
Good breakfast, good wine, good service. Dinner is not worth the money, the concept of the food is interesting but the execution of the ideas needs to improve. For the price, one would expect that it would be perfectly cooked.

Place is very reasonably priced for the experience! The beef tartar is excellent! After dinner treat yourself with a few select ports (share with your partner )and cheeses platter. You will remember it!
(Translated by Google) The truth is that I would like to recommend this site to everyone. I have only enjoyed the restaurant, I have not stayed in the hotel. The food was good, the waiters seemed like cracks, and the price seemed appropriate, in keeping with the incredible place in which it is located. In short, I think that anyone who goes to that place will take a nice memory, for me one of the 3 best places in the Iberian Peninsula because you have an incredible forest next to a building that is also spectacular, not out of place at all. The combination of architecture and nature, carved stone and giant moss-covered trees, is hard to beat. It is hard for me to remember a place that I liked so much, only El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen. Even if it's just for collaborating so that they continue to maintain it as well as I found it, it's already worth entering the car and eating at their restaurant.

(Translated by Google) The dinner, I only remember quality in the foi, the mullet in ration theory was small, like the ones that are fried in Seville in any bar, and expensive I don't remember if 38 or 48e, I recommend that you don't ask for it, the cheeses, tasteless, and the wines, normal and expensive, if we compare with the very good wines of Spain. I think it's worth going down to Luso, 2 km away, and having dinner at a local restaurant, not doing it for comfort will be a disappointment, we didn't do it, but I dare to recommend it, the staff is the best.(Original)La cena , solo recuerdo calidad en el foi, el salmonete en teoría de racion era pequeño ,como los que se fríen en Sevilla en cualquier bar, y caros no recuerdo si 38 o 48e, recomiendo que no la pidan, los quesos, insípidos, y los vinos, normalistas y caros, si comparamos con los buenísimos vinos de España .Creo que merece la pena bajar aLuso a 2 kms, y cenar en algún restaurante del lugar, no hacerlo por comodidad será una decepción , nosotros no lo hicimos, pero me atrevo a recomendarlo, el personal , es lo mejor.
