Popular with the tour companies as it is large and with extensive outdoor seating and right in the heart of town. Service was prompt and the spaghetti bolognese tasty and filling.

We had a nice table on the terrace for a great lunch. Big and savoury dishes. Nothing to complain about ! Do not look further.

We had lunch here on a day tour from Funchal. We chose just the right time as there were a few tables free when we sat down but within 10 minutes it was full. I ordered a ham and cheese toasty which came with chips and was only €4.50! For the amount of food it was really quite cheap. We sat outside which was nice, but don't expect a nice view - it is next to a car park and on the main road. Service was good.

Let's make it clear : My review is about the restaurant O Colmo , not about the hotel . Our tour driver/guide ("Go East" with Madeira Happy Tours) recommended this huge restaurant while having a noon break on our tour, for a set menu deal (17 Euros, incl. wine ,soft drinks, soup, salads, desset and coffee. great deal !). Six of us on the tour accepted the recommendation gladly, Big Mistake . The restaurant is really huge, nice decor , tableware and tablecloth and it was packed, As if we were invited to a wedding reception. But - after waiting more than half hour to be served I had to get up and look for a waiter . Eventually food was served . Tasty , but in a wrong sequence (soup after the main dish), Red wine and water were waiting on the table uncorked (refilled ???). Lunch took well over an hour and a half , leaving us hardly enough time to visit attractions around the restaurant. Seeing our disappointment, apologizing - the hard working waiters took 2 Euros off each bill. In short: If you are on a tour and your time is limited - do not waist it here .

Went here as it was recommended by Lido Tours on the East Island tour. Greasy, wet chips, sandwich had lots of garlic and was heavy and greasy. Can't recommend eating here.

The restaurant is located at the city center. The soup as starter was ok. But the beef as the main dish contained lots of greace. The desert was ok. The price remains resonnable.

The best rice for your kid;) our son after eating great margarita decided to for a rest of the rice from bow. Dishes of the day were nice, although I have to admit fish was better then a strew. Good value meal, nicely looking traditional restaurant and the village house in front of restaurant looks better then the rest, as you can actually see how it should look inside

I wasn’t here by choice, but as part of a displaced group. Regrettably, we had to endure a set menu. Vegetable soup was grey, tasteless and lukewarm. Pork was suitable for repairing shoes though the somewhat gloopy sauce had a little flavour. Surprisingly, vegetables weren’t awful though lacked seasoning. Dessert was some sort of set cream thing that I believe would have bounced had it been dropped. Additionally, glasses and cutlery were not clean. I’m delighted that I’ll never have to eat here again.

Local, rustic, noisy, not very clean restaurant where our tour guide took the whole group. We had a set menu with drinks included. Vegetable soup was bland. Scabbard fish was lukewarm and had disgusting batter and artificial sauce on it.... as well as a half cold! banana ? The only ok item was the maracuja/passion fruit puddim, tasted nice. 1 ● for this, and 1 ● for the service which was fast (but of course not very caring). Don't recommend this restaurant and wouldn't come on a voluntarily basis....

This place runs largely as a tour group stopover lunch place and does a roaring trade. The food was adequate, not great quality but lots of it, including wine and water. For some reason we were not served a promised starter of soup and we were ignored by staff when we queried this. Probably not a place I would stop by my own choice but it fulfilled its purpose on a day tour.

We found this restaurant while we were looking for the Houses in Santana. Me and my friend, two girls with a weight around 55 kg, ordered the grilled beef cutlet and the picanha. When the disches arrived they were like for a family of 4, the steak was like a kilo of meat, grilled exactly as we wanted. Side dish for Picanha black beans and rice, also fries, fried corn paste and salad. I highly recommend this place for meat lovers.

Good only for car parking. Also they are taking money for not ordered dish. Dirty place. Lazy and not friendly staff. Avoid the timing, when tourist groups are there.
