Service from those who served us was terrible. We placed the order, they brought bread and olives, we didn't eat it, but when we went to pay the bill it was mentioned on the invoice "the olives and bread were on some paper. We questioned that we didn't eat it or order it... Answer: it went to the table, They didn't eat it, it goes in the trash, you have to pay... I will never recommend it again

The food was very very delicious, I recommend the stewed meat with a spectacular seasoning. Remember that lunch is only from 11am to 2pm. Then it reopens at 5 pm. Greetings from ColombiaPilgrim's menu $12.5 eurosDrink, soup, bread, main course

The food overall was very good, but extreme issues with service let this down. Several items all ordered to arrive at the same time (7 skewers) but only 4 arrived with the chips and milho. The other three had to be requested several times more before they arrived and all while the sides got cold - there was no attempt by the staff to rectify this either with warm sides or any discount. Overall this made the experience (New Year day Birthday Lunch) disappointing.
The food - when we got it - was great. Delicious skewers, and the milho frito was the best I’ve had in Madeira. Unfortunately front of house wasn’t able to deliver on the promise of the kitchen. One of our party was left waiting for over an hour for their food, while the rest of us waited and then started eating as food got cold. Things go wrong, especially in service industries - what matters is service recovery; and how things are ‘made right’. They weren’t. Brusque staff who seemed largely focused on getting us out, having ruined a birthday meal. Would I come back? Good question. I don’t think so. There are lots of great restaurants in Madeira, and for me while the food does matter, the overall experience is what really counts. At Santo Antonio I didn’t feel like I was what mattered or that the front of house staff cared. What a shame.
absolutely amazing food, beef skewers are absolutely perfect. they are tender, juicy and seasing to my taste. after I discovered this place been there 3 times in 3 days in a row. after a whole-day hike this food was like a visit in heaven.
Very nice bbq restaurant with bilingual menu and a mostly skewer menu of beef and chicken. Nicely located on a hill side approx 10 min drive from Funchal. Waiters are attentive till serving thereafter seem to lose interest but not really annoyingly so. Meat is tender and well marinated. Parking available on premises.
One of my favorite restaurants in the rural area, good service extremely clean I had the beef espetada perfect , tender and juicy my wife had the chicken espetada loved it , salads always fresh and tasty and a great variety of Portuguese wines, did not have dessert was too full, highly recommended.
Take the hanging skewers of charcoal-grilled meats to the next level! Perfectly grilled to order, seasoned to taste, and tender, we enjoyed every morsel. They recommended excellent wine, as well. Portions are huge, so sharing can also be part of your experience.

Meat tasted amazing, we had the ones on the traditional laurel stick. After you get the meat, however, the waiter seems to not want to return, no longer bothered about you.
Great espatadas and food, terrible and unfriendly service, ruined the experience completely, won't return.
Very bad staff attention.

OMG - amazing food - in this small restaurant situated well out of Funchal in a small village high up in the mountains near Camara de Lobos. It was packed when we went but we had a chauffeur who knew what to do and so we got a seat at the window overlooking a brilliant sea panorama! There is a limited menu which has a focus on huge chunks of meat on skewers which they come and hang on great big spikes on your table and then you can hack the meat off! The meat is utterly amazing beef and they cook it with laurel on the skewer. Chips and salad were also quite wonderful! Service was efficient and quick and the whole experience was to die for! You have to book though.
Not recommended. Terrible attendance. Keep going straight ahead, 50 meters away. Good
