Today for lunch was my first time at Cancela Velha. It was busy but no waiting, seated immediately. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Was with my brother and our Portuguese language teacher. We all ordered the soup (nabissa), breads and olives and cheese appetizers, bacalhau cakes, daily special (pescado and arroz com gelho). Very, very good oven-baked rice, as well as potatoes and roasted garlic, very generous portions. But much better than the food is the friendliness of the staff and especially the restaurant owner, Mr. Manuel Monteiro. It was the first time we went to this restaurant and we were treated like family. I simply loved it, as did my family.I will definitely be back and I highly recommend it.Thank you very much Mr. Manuel and all your employees
