An obligatory stop when we come to these parts.
The grilled pork remains at a high level, as does the gazpacho.
However, the old-fashioned migas with alguidar meat disappoint.
Friendly service and terrace
Vegetarian options: Various dishes based on mushrooms, collected in the mountains. Not always available

We came to this place as I could not eat more meat during my holiday to Alentejo. Meat appears to be the most common dish understandably but after days of it I desperately needed some vegetables/vegetarian dishes. The menu was hopeful as it had several vegetarian dishes. Sadly the place was expensive and the price was not matched by the quality of what was served. We were served a starter of a rather tiny dish with scrambled eggs and mushrooms. They charged 15 euros for it (!) and it was very poorly cooked. Mushrooms were watery and tasteless. This was followed by rice with mushrooms. It was not the risotto type as the rice dish was quite wet. Almost a soup. Again mushrooms didn't taste great and they used too much vegetable stock which spoiled the taste of the dish. For the 22 euros we were charged for this dish (!) any decently cooked homemade dish of rice and mushrooms would taste far better and for a fraction of the price. Sadly a poor restaurant and quite expensive for the very basic and tasteless dishes we had. I should have taken pictures of the dishes but these would have not helped to understand how poorly the dishes tasted. They may serve better meat dishes perhaps, but anyone after tasty vegetarian dishes should look elsewhere!

It is unbelievable to find a menu with so many vegetarian options in Portugal. Extremely well prepared mushrooms, I definitely hope to return!
Always very crowded, I recommend booking in advance.

I confess some disappointment after some optimistic expectations, I don't intend to repeat it, it doesn't justify the trip. The price/quality ratio didn't please me, associated with the fact that the rude service borders on the owner's aggressiveness, which does nothing to benefit the environment.

We went for the first time and left the dishes to Mr. Filipe and did not disappoint us, the tender and tasty veal chop, he introduced me to real secrets and I confess that being from the Lisbon area I had never eaten secrets like these, super tender and tasty, very good, the house wine was also good and whoever wants quality has to pay for it. The service was also very good, a lot of interaction between Mr. Filipe and customers
There may be people who disagree, but for me, Mr. Filipe is a solid guy and a straight man
Restaurant with a very pleasant interior space, the food is quite tasty.
The staff is 5 stars, super attentive, I have to thank for the drawing board that Rodrigo promptly arranged so that our little one could be entertained drawing and for sharing his time explaining how to assemble the famous Rubik's cube.
It's small gestures like this that make people appreciated and feel completely at ease in this space.
It was the first time we visited, but it certainly won't be the last, as the next time we return to this region, we will certainly return for lunch or dinner.
I recommend a visit to anyone in the area.

A good place to eat with views of the mountains surrounding Portagem. We ended up at this place, because a local recommended it to us after running out of a place to eat in Marvão.
The food is incredible, I recommend the loin steaks and the grilled chicken with potatoes accompanied by salad. In total we spent about €27 between two people and they invited us to a homemade liquor. The attention of the waiters was 10 and the place was very clean and well placed. It lacks a ramp for people with mobility problems since it has a staircase. I will definitely return one day. Great variety of food, drinks and wines on the menu.
Vegetarian options: Great variety on the menu. It's not a problem if you are vegetarian.
Parking: You can park on the side of the road without problems.

The innkeeper brought us a menu in English, so far so good. But then I couldn't tell us what everything meant. We ate shrimp with garlic and oil, really good. Then Iberian pork, well the meat was dried out. When the bill came we were almost shocked. The bread, butter and olives that were already at the table cost almost 8 euros. I just find that cheeky without asking. We didn't want anything like that.

Filipe, the restaurant that delighted us over the weekend; we spent my birthday in Marvão, and the best choice we made to eat, on recommendation, was here!We eat vegan, I admit that we didn't have high expectations for our food in the middle of Alentejo, but Filipe surpassed everything we ever thought.LOTS OF VEGETARIAN OPTIONS.Very typical Portuguese food, with a perfect replacement for animal protein... all the flavors are incredibly achieved in the dishes, and the best musk we've ever eaten... very satisfactory quality and quantity, freshness and perfectly cooked food!As if all this wasn't enough, we also met the restaurant's best character... Filipe is charismatic, genuine, playful and made us feel at home! The house staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a typical restaurant, don't expect silence or little confusion, as it's a stopping point for so many people who love this place. Some waiting time for the service is normal, depending on the number of people in the space, but it's all worth it.I can't wait to head to the south of Alentejo again, and try more dishes that we haven't been able to try yet!

Very good treatment and very good quality-price. Always good telephone service for reservations and very attentive to customers. The food is very good, I recommend clams as a starter.
Parking: Parking is easy on the street, if not in front, then slightly higher up.
Kid-friendliness: No problem with children, families usually go to eat and they have a fairly large dining room
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access is difficult because there are stairs

Restaurant of the place that they recommended to us...It was very good, extensive wine list as well. The road is somewhat tedious if you walk around it, since it is winding, but it is worth going there, since you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes there...Cozy place with good views...Perfect meat, exquisite vegetable soup and the white wine sangria was also very good, among other things we ordered...They have a terrace for hot days...Waiters and owner of the place very friendly and attentive... Telling us nearby places to visit and asking how the food was...Highlight the Angus picaña...They sell wines and oil (Photo); The oil (very good) apparently is organic and local... (€10 half a liter).Desserts on the menu, as well as homemade ones, the latter being very delicious...The bathrooms are clean, with soap and hand dryer, I missed paper to dry your hands...Recommended place if you pass by...
Vegetarian options: On the menu there is something to order for vegetarians...
Parking: Next to the road there is land parking in a battery...
Kid-friendliness: No problem...
Wheelchair accessibility: I find it difficult... There are two entrances and both have steps in height...
