“Spectacular to eat dishes of cod and other fish made traditionally tak and how they do it in the Porto, Braga area. Very good seafood, barnacles, scallops, oysters.
And at prices not at all expensive. The service is 10. And the attention is also 10.“
“After visiting Naples and trying the best pizza, I had to see if Antonio Mezzero (an italian pizzaiolo who moved to Porto) the worlds first prize was similar… its even better. Best dough, best fresh filling, lots of love and lots of art! We met him and he found the time to explain the processe. We have to come back“

“My local friend has been raving about this restaurant since before I came to Portugal. Today, we finally made it there, famished from skipping breakfast and lunch. Despite our timing, we got a table right away.
We ordered clams (resembling mini dinosaurs), prawns, and sea bass with potatoes and a side salad. I loved the toasted bread they brought out. The prawns were incredibly sweet, and the clams were juicy, chewy, and delicious. One bite of toasted bread with butter, shrimp with cocktail sauce, and clam had my taste buds celebrating.
Then came the sea bass with potatoes and salad. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and those potatoes were divine. The salad, though simple, complemented the meal well, especially the sweet white onions. We loved them so much we asked for extra.
For dessert, we had "camel froth” (?translated ??)which tasted like caramel mousse, and my friend enjoyed a cake made with egg whites, reminiscent of marshmallow. Both were excellent.
The service was efficient, handled by two older gentlemen and a lady. They weren't overly friendly but definitely not rude, managing the busy crowd with skill. Overall, a fantastic dining experience.“

“Remember to book because the indoor room is not that big.
Meal outside for us but very pleasant despite the cloudy weather (the view is similar)
The grilled octopus is delicious. A little disappointed by the slightly dry cod and the "burger" which is more of a horse steak (chopped steak with fried egg).
Very good white Kiwi / Passion fruit sangria.
Dessert not up to par. The cheesecake doesn't have one ?. The creamy lemon was more like a cheesecake ?.
The service is not very pleasant. We had a great time.“

“It was unintentional, the bus stop gave us a pleasant surprise, 50 m away with the appetite of 3 pm and there Joan was waiting for us, a smile from the first moment, close attention and an extraordinary quality-price ratio and she made us happy a any Friday. Chance is capricious.“

“We went to spend a day at the beach and based on the reviews, eat here. He did not disappoint us and we left delighted. We ate some oysters, grilled sardines, seafood rice and finally a caramel coulant with tangerine ice cream, which is the best dessert I've ever had. The black coffee is delicious too. The kindness of the people who treated us was ten. Our table was not free when we arrived and we were treated to a wine while we waited. Excellent.“

“One of the best seafood dinners, ever.
Dear local friends recommended Majára. What a gem. Ambience is classy, a place to have a nice family dinner, a date or a fabulous time with friends who appreciate excellent food. No dress code detected, but do your best to make it a special time. This is a nice restaurant that takes care of every detail!
Greeter, waiter were very friendly. Augustin, our waiter, was funny, energetic, very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. His recommendations were spot on. Timing and rhythm of service was perfect, and no interruptions to our family chat.
On to the food. We eat excellent seafood regularly. Majára is among the top. Jumbo grilled shrimp was very tasty, added butter made an explosive party of taste in my mouth. The seafood platter was very generous, with plenty of shrimp, crab, prawns, persebe (barnacle) that were juicy, expertly prepared, tasty and incredibly fresh. Our waiter made an excellent pairing with local Vino Verdhe and showed us the fresh jumbo camarao. Salmon plate was also very tasty and a great option for those in your party that prefer fish over mariscos. Bread was freshly baked and buttery.
Creme Brule toped the night, but the star of the show was the incredible seafood platter.
Thank you team Majára. We will be back!“

“Very good value for money, in addition, the fish dishes are very large, ideal for sharing between two. We ordered a grilled sea bream and it was delicious, accompanied by seasoned boiled potatoes and vegetables. The service, very attentive. We went with three babies and they were very patient. “Chose this place amongst all the other seafood restaurants along the street as it had a large patio and the shortest wait list. So glad we did as the food was so fresh and delicious! We had grilled sardines, squid and garlic potatoes, and a bottle of wine. Hands down the best value for money meal we had during our trip. Highly recommended.“

“Excellent and inexpensive cuisine compared to the quality and quantity that can be found in these dishes. The wines are also delicious, especially the white which I recommend as well as the Peruvian escalope which is absolutely perfect.
However, the waitress served us bread as well as cod accras which we had not ordered, telling us that it was the aperitif but that she still made us pay in the end (it must be admitted that the accras are not that expensive for their quality (19€ for 20))“

“We had a wonderful dining experience here last night. The owner & staff were attentive and helpful.
They gave me a gooseneck barnacle to try when they saw me looking at the seafood display, & were very understanding that we didn’t speak Portuguese. Instead, they did their best to communicate in English & it was a lovely, friendly exchange.
We had clams (briny, succulent) with buttery grilled toast, seafood rice (stuffed with seafood with a delicate fresh tomato base) & housewine (crisp, balance & a generous pour).
The portions were so generous we barely finished, & the total bill came to just €60 for 2 diners. What a great value experience that I’d recommend without hesitation.
Take the time to find this slightly hidden restaurant. It is cosy inside and popular with locals.
Thank you team Fernando, for giving me a wonderful memory of Oporto??“

Less positive points, some somewhat inconvenient comments were made during the service regarding customers' diet options at the table and it was necessary to correct the bill because there were extra amounts to be charged.“

“This was a good surprise. We were walking to the beach and when passing this restaurant decided to stop for lunch. First let me say the prices here are a bit more expensive than an average restaurant but this is definitely no average restaurant. The staff were amazing and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The seafood was fresh and delicious with many choices. The service was excellent. We found that although it was a bit more than we normally pay for lunch it was worth it and we definitely would go back. Amazing seafood definitely worth trying.“

“Well prepared and healthy food (low salt). We were 5 people and we ate fried petingas, fritters and fried garlic shrimp for starters (there were no barnacles that day). A 1.8kg sea bass for 4 people and hake fillets for 1 person. 2 bottles of sparkling wine, half a bottle of Quinta do Valado and 2 large bottles of water. A cream milk to share (I didn't have enough belly for more).
It didn't reach 200 euros.
Friendly and attentive staff.“

“How is it that every week we say this is our favorite restaurant in Portugal then the next week, something tops it? Well king of the heap this week is Patio do Lo. I assume it’s proprietor Louis, is the namesake. Although his master chef whom we also met is named Louisa. Why quibble over trivial matters. Let’s eat!
And eat we did, we trusted Louis to make this an epic meal, and boy did he!
This place is classic Portuguese with thick exposed stone walls, an ample patio out back. We set near the kitchen, to check out the action.
We started with an amazing warm bread and homemade pimento butter with paprika also homemade tuna salad to spread over that delectable bread. A bowl of olives kept us from chewing the table as we were famished. We let Louis pick the wine and Game on!
The roasted salted peppers quickly followed then shorty the homemade chorizo on fire came. The waiter instructed me to turn it over a few times till we thought it was cooked. Then he expertly killed the flame, and scraped the burnt casing off most of the link then cut it for us to chow down on. My wife said maybe we could get a doggie back and take some home to make chorizo n eggs for breakfast. Not a chance! Perfectly spiced and unctuously fatty rich and meaty, we inhaled it! Just in time for the bacalhau fried crepes, to help sop us some of the chorizo richness. The next unexpected course was a pulled duck pot pie with fresh greens to accompany. Oh man it was richer than Françoise Bettencourt Meyers!
Just as we were thinking some time tonight we are gonna get that steak we ordered…
Nope a scotch egg was next. We never this dish had so while Louis expertly cut it in half he explained what it was all about. Basically art mixed with chef alchemy, decadence and booming with flavor.
As we sopped up the remaining bits of sriracha mayo, the main event finally arrived.
But before Louis put the wooden platter down, he explains to he wife,
“I know you don’t like very rare meat so if it’s not to you liking, I will ask the sachet to continue to cook it, are you willing to try to taste the way we think it’s best?”
Once she said a little scared.. “well… ok… The steak (for 2) was placed in front of us looking all sexy and very rare.
She took a bit with Louis paying very close attention to her reaction ready to pounce and send it back to the kitchen. No need, her eyes glazed over as she barely chewed her first bite. She sat back in her chair and swore out loud, “outrageous! It so good, how the heck… what… where did you learn to cook like this what planet do these cows live on?”
Louise chuckled and explained his theory of cooking and fine cuisine. We were getting a master class from a master while we ate THE BEST STEK IVE EVER EATEN.
While maintaining his panache he humbly introduced us to his master chef Louisa, and maintained while he curates and experiments she was the master.
Then the idea of dessert started bubbling up. But before they turned around to he dessert display I said no sir! I want that steak flavor to be the last thing on my palette. Louisa insisted that if we weren’t going to EAT dessert we should at least drink it.
Perplexed we listen to her explain that what she was going to give us was the their normal “hooch” as the haven’t done something with the sour cherries, but this was a good substitute. Stupidly nodding our heads we went along with it.
Then once the shot glasses were full, Louis took a lime and expertly squeezed some juice in each, then a dash of sea salt. I’m thinking ok this is like a tequila shot or something. Well it was a shot alright, but it was sweet. It only took a minute to register, this complex concoction tasted like I drank a key lime pie, crust n all. Brilliant.
The restaurant is very busy on weekends Louis quipped, because I said I’d be back for the prego sando the next day, my face plastered to the front glass w“

“We spent a great evening here with very good service. Everything authentically Portuguese and warm with excellent food at reasonable prices. Including many starters and all drinks plus excellent port wine, we came to 170 euros for four people. “We had a fantastic lunch here on a day tour of Porto and the fishing villages. We had cod fritters, grilled dourada (dorado) and mixed vegetables. “Very good. Definitely worth repeating and recommending. Simple and effective service. Good atmosphere. Best food. I tried the mixed board of cheeses and sausages, peppers, spinach croquettes, crispy alheira, bravas, broken eggs with ham, calamari, ham croquettes and for dessert crumble and cañitas. I rate all the food between Very Good and Excellent.“
“Get the bus or tram and enjoy the views on the way out to Matosinhos. The boats come in yards away, the fish is delivered to the kitchen, and you get to eat the freshest catch- of the- day. O Tubarão is a family run business and though staff don’t speak much English ( why should they?) we understood each other perfectly. You’re there to eat fish so don’t bother straying from the dorado, hake, cod or squid, and of course, the sardines. Wine is by the half or full bottle. The “cover” might arrive unasked-for, bread, olives, and seafood pâté. Eat it and thank me later. Muito obrigado por tudo. x“

“??Home cooking! With huge portions. Not a ton of English spoken here. But if you try you will easily muddle through. Left phone at home but had the bacalao do braga. Basically fried fish accompanied by onions, peppers and garlic in olive oil and a bit of fresh black olives on top. Accompanied by oval shaped potatoes. Basically the best potato chips ever.
Family oriented friendly and very local! We will be back again soon! You will love the price!

“Today they served me a cocktail they recommended and it was divine! My friend ordered a thin one and accidentally broke a glass, when we called the boy he immediately brought another beer.
The terrace was full, a peaceful atmosphere, very young.
When it came time to pay, based on experiences in other establishments, I was already expecting to pay for the cocktail and two cocktails (one of them, the one that had broken) but no, the guy who served us had already informed us of the situation and they didn't charge us.
They were spectacular, super friendly!!
And this comment is due to the attention they gave us.

“To access the restaurant, just exit the restaurant street (R Heróis de França).
Fresh fish from the sea and other Atlantic delicacies. Try the seasonal seafood. As it is a restaurant with a family atmosphere, but with a small room and a new room set up on the sidewalk, at peak times it is difficult to get good service, so I recommend sitting down early (12:30pm) or making a reservation.
Suggestion: for starters you can order grilled garlic bread. Then a grilled sea bass that can be accompanied by mashed potatoes, but also goes well with naughty greens rice or tomato rice. For dessert, a creamy milk.
With these options it is easy to become a customer.
Toilet area and bathroom decorated with sea motifs.
With WIFI available. Reasonable access for people with reduced mobility.
Free parking at the auction – ask for your parking ticket when leaving the restaurant.

“Interesting and well-kept place, a few minutes from Matosinhos beach, even if not very visible. Special dishes, with unusual but very interesting combinations. Not the typical traditional Portuguese cuisine, but a cuisine with excellent innovative dishes.
Average prices, but for the quality of the dishes very fair. In particular, we took the quinoea burger, the duck meatballs and the tuna tataki on orange puree, an amazing dish: the tuna was soft and cooked to perfection and the puree was very good.
The guys who manage and cook in the restaurant are very young, friendly and nice.

“Loved this restaurant. It's a popular restaurant during lunch. The staff try their best to serve everyone as efficiently as possible. So ?. Food was excellent. We had the salad, grilled fish, squid (half portion) and a bottle of white wine. They were grilled to perfection. Not overly salty. At the start, we chose not to have the bread, bitter and olives as these were chargeable. For 2 persons, we were more than filled since each dish came with potatoes. This restaurant doesn't serve clams, mussels or prawns. But we saw their grilled Sardines other diners ordered and they looked perfectly grilled (sigh ... we couldn't eat so much).
