Get the bus or tram and enjoy the views on the way out to Matosinhos. The boats come in yards away, the fish is delivered to the kitchen, and you get to eat the freshest catch- of the- day. O Tubarão is a family run business and though staff don’t speak much English ( why should they?) we understood each other perfectly. You’re there to eat fish so don’t bother straying from the dorado, hake, cod or squid, and of course, the sardines. Wine is by the half or full bottle. The “cover” might arrive unasked-for, bread, olives, and seafood pâté. Eat it and thank me later. Muito obrigado por tudo. x

We had the freshest most delicious fish at this restaurant. We had taken an afternoon trip from Porto in search of an authentic “fishing village” restaurant and we came upon this place on a side street. The food was superb: freshly-caught grilled sardines (other fresh fish on the menu also) served with a generous portion of small potatoes in a garlicky olive oil. This, together with a colorful salad, crusty bread, olives and a refreshing vino verde was served by friendly, hospitable hosts. Excellent food at a very reasonable price.

The freshest most delicious fish we had during our 10-day vacation in Portugal was at Tubarao Restaurant in Matosinhos. We were walking around the town looking for an authentic, non-touristy place to have freshly-caught grilled fish and really got lucky! Delicious grilled sardines served with potatoes in a garlicky olive oil. There were other freshly caught fish on the menu as well. An abundant colorful fresh salad and a refreshing glass of vino verde complemented the main course. All at a very reasonable price. The friendly, hospitable staff contributed to making this a really great meal in the fishing village of Matosinhos. If you appreciate a meal of fresh fish in an authentic local place, you must try Tubarao.

Stay away from this place. Rude uneducated staff with wannabe aggressive behaviour. They clearly haven't dropped the diaper and do not know how to properly behave when working in a restaurant. Food was cold and took forever to get to the table. They only accept cash which in our days it's ridiculous. Bottom line horrible experience

This is probably the best place to eat some fish in Matosinhos. The restaurant is cozy and the service friendly and familiar. I reccomend the salads (tip: ask for extra sauce and for some peppers. They normally cut on the sauce). Fish is perfectly cooked. Not to miss the traditional dessert Pão de Rala.

I just had lunch with a friend of mine. In my opinion one of the best place to each good fish with simple, homemade and delicious side dish. I recommend the salad with green and red pepper.: A classic which goes with any fish in Porto area (at least - no offence to the Lisbon gang ?) An important detail: it is the only restaurant in the whole Porto area that even your kid who did start to learn to write will spot before yourself ??... A toda a equipa do Tubarão: parabéns! Adorei mais uma vez a experiência. Repitirei! ?

I loved it here. The food was good, the waiter was friendly and they were quit fast if you ask me. We were here around 2 pm. We had the Dorado fish. Was very nice! I am a fan of good food, who is isn't... and I would recommend it!
