When you lived in the you try for a while you habe certain expectations in traditional restaurants. They are often staffed with grumpy old men with a terrible sense of humour that tend to slam cups and drinks on the surfaces making the biggest racket they can, this restaurant is one of those. Often the service seems slow in places like these but the staff normally work with an efficiency and routine that is impressive. Well, this one is not one of those. in fact the waiter informed us straightaway that it would take 25 mins for the food. Mind you, he didn't tell us about the 25 mins before he graced us with his presence to take our order. Also not that the food arrived in odd intervals. In our group of four, three chose the same dish, but they all arrived with about five minutes in between them. The portions looked very generous and appetising, but the veal was as tough as a show sole and the "lagartos" were tough and pink. The guests at other tables seemed happy altogether, both tourists and locals alike, but we will not give it another chance. There are a lot of better restaurants out there serving traditional Portuguese dishes. Altogether a shame.

In my experience, the restaurants in the LX market are good but overpriced. The Restaurante Santo Amaro is only about two blocks away, across Rua 10 de Maio, from the street car museum, and only a block away from the Bernardo Art Deco museum. Santo Amaro is a straight ahead traditional place with very nice tile walls. We had gilled fish and grilled chicken nicely cooked and well presented. Nothing fancy here, but good food at the right price.
