Very interesting place. With a stunning view over the village of Mértola. Excellent octopus lagareiro. Olive oil crumbs with divine black pork.

I was very surprised, the New Year's dinner was spectacular, and there were several details, such as a bottle of sparkling wine offered at the exit, every table had a bag with a bow, and inside 2 glasses of fesra and 12 raisins. We liked a lot.

Very pleasant atmosphere and space, we ate on the balcony overlooking the Guadiana River and the town and Castle of Mértola. We tried cod and prawn chords inside Alentejo bread, salmon puff pastry with cheese, absolutely divine. Asparagus crumbs and other delicacies. We love it and recommend it.‐-----October 2023 we return and we don't regret it. Delicious food.

Excellent place to enjoy good and well-prepared cuisine, I also recommend the convent desserts. I recommend itGet on the highways, and take the route Beja - V. R. St. Antônio or vice & versa, passing through Mértola.

We ended up at Casa Amarela after searching for a restaurant.Upon arriving we found a very pleasant and welcoming environment. We chose a table and they promptly came to leave a bottle of water, cover charge and bread, which we refused because in total it was €7 and everything presented to us did not justify the price. We ordered drinks and the main course, opting for the Mixed Board - land and sea (€49) which had black pork secretions, angus steak, lamb chops and tiger prawns accompanied by French fries and assorted sauces that would be for 2 people. After waiting for some time, the order arrived and what a disappointment. The potatoes came in the same quantity that is normally eaten in an individual portion. The meat itself came without any seasoning except for the pork secretions and it was clear that the meat's strengths were not the house's strong point as the same meat could be either overcooked or practically raw. There were 2 tiger prawns that left something to be desired both in terms of quantity and size. And to help, everything arrived on the table practically cold. For the price, we thought the dose was too low for 2 people and we thought we would have been more satisfied if we had ordered individual doses. In a last attempt we ordered 2 chocolate mousses with pink pepper and fleur de sel... another disappointment, extremely thick mousse and burnt chocolate pieces in the middle. In short, the space is welcoming, the atmosphere pleasant, the staff friendly but the food leaves something to be desired, at least what we ordered.Leaving us to wonder if it was our bad luck...

When searching for a nice restaurant for dinner, we ended up at Casa Amarela because it had a good score, good appearance, prices and reviews. When we arrived we found a very pleasant and welcoming environment. We chose to stay in the inner area instead of the confusion of the river view. They promptly came to leave (without being asked) a bottle of water (2€), cover charge (2.5€) and bread (2.5€) totaling €7, which wouldn't be bad if the cover charge itself wasn't nothing special. We asked them to collect it as we were not interested, we ordered the drinks and the main course opting for the Mixed Board - land and sea (49€) which had black pork secrets, angus steak, lamb chops and tiger prawns accompanied by French fries and sauces. varied that would be for 2 people.Well, when the order arrived at the table it was a disappointment, in addition to the waiting time, the order was poor in terms of quantity for 2 people. The potatoes came in the same quantity as is normally eaten in an individual portion, the Angus steak lacked any type of flavor and lack of salt with some pieces well done and others almost raw and it was clear that the piece of meat was not of great quality. The lamb chops were more bone with a bit of meat than a chop itself and had the same problem as the unseasoned steak and some of the meat was almost raw. There were 2 tiger prawns (I've already had larger Argentine prawns). The pork secretions were the best, they were cooked perfectly and were the only meat with seasoning. Not to mention that everything arrived at the table practically cold. For the price, we thought the dose was too low for 2 people and we thought we would have been more satisfied if we had ordered individual doses. To try and finish well, we ordered 2 chocolate mousses with pink pepper and fleur de sel... another disappointment, extremely thick mousse and burnt pieces of chocolate (not supposed to) in the middle. In short, the space is welcoming, the atmosphere pleasant, the staff friendly but the food leaves something to be desired, at least what we ordered.

Stayed in Mertola for one night and the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed so we took a trip across the bridge to Casa Amarela and delighted we did. A bit of a gamble, as we had not booked but rewarded with a grand table looking over at the town. As mentioned in other reviews, the time to get there is before dusk in order to view Mertola, and the castle, as it lights up in the dark. We had two lovely main courses, the black pork with wild asparagus & garlic migas and the chicken in pastry - both delicious and plentiful. Thoroughly enjoyable and well worth a visit.
We ate here two nights in a row as it was a short stroll from our accommodation. Both evenings we had a table on the (enclosed) terrace with lovely views across the river to Mértola. It's nice to arrive in daylight to then enjoy the sunset, the lights of Mértola and the stars. We enjoyed our meals - traditional food, nice wine and friendly service.
