We were travelling from Beja to Tavira & stopped by Mertola. Were happy to chance upon this cute ice cream place as we hadn't seen a proper ice cream shop so far on our trip. Stairs lead you down to an adorable little shed where a guy was selling ice cream in what looked like someone's backyard! We got a coffee and cream as well as a blackberry and mint. A tad pricey at 3.50€ a tub but we thought the XS would be too small for us lolol....also the flavour combis of the S-sized cups were interesting. The ice cream were tasty but they weren't the best we have had. They were not very creamy and the coffee flavour was quite subtle so it would have been better if it was stronger. The blackberry kinda tasted like raspberry ice cream which was pleasant enough but not the flavour we were expecting. Overall, Nicolau's ice cream was an interesting find but we prefer richer, and milkier ice creams with stronger flavours.
