Bochechas and “Atum em escabeche” were great, but everything else meh… portion too small to share and not worth the price. We were a group of 4. We order 4 entrances, two plates and then one extra more, and a dessert, and I must say I add to eat something afterwards.
Casual but with great service and interesting food at reasonable prices. We had booked a table and our waiter was super friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. If you want to try local food in a relaxed setting try Pica-Pau, the starter dish of the same name was delicious and the Ginjinha Fizz was just wonderful.
We came with great expectations, based on the NY times's review. Well, we felt quite unwelcomed We came a froup of 5 persons. One left immediately (did not like the atmosphere). We were charged 15 euros for 3 (tiny) rolls. The explaination was "cover" for 5. Well....
This is a must visit for a classy, incredible setting for an amazing dinner. The staff were great- very warm and endearing. The atmosphere was very chic- classic but elevated. The lower dining room was very cozy even with a bustling evening crowd. We both split entrees- pork cheeks and potatoes, a side of roe and a side of octopus. Everything tasted great! Very clean and light. Definitely put this on your list.
A real "oasis" of Portuguese cuisine in Lisbon. From the starters to the main course and desserts a delicious gastronomic experience in the best of the Portuguese cuisine. Quality of ingredients and superb preparation. A must go in Lisbon, conveniently located near Principe Real and Bairro Alto.
It remains the best, most consistent Portuguese restaurant in Lisbon. We’ve been close to ten times over the last year and it has never once disappointed us.
We just had a great meal and experience at Pica Pau. Even on a cold, rainy Tuesday night, they had a full house, with lots of locals, as well as tourists. Lots of energy, but easy to talk. Every member of their staff greeted us as we walked in, past the bar and kitchen. From the snacks and small plates, to the main courses, the food was outstanding and local. Fresh and delicious. The wines and even the liquors were largely, if not entirely from Portugal. Couldn't have been better! Thanks!
This place was one of our favourites on our visit to Lisbon, the value for money in this place is incredible! We had the suckling pig that I must say was incredible and the garlic prawns paired with the bread or cured ham was the best way to start a meal! The service was incredible on our 3rd visit, we visited 3 night in a row and it felt it was getting better and better! Definitely worthy of a shout for a bib gourmand If you’re in Lisbon come here you won’t regret it!
I was looking for a quick dinner not far from my hotel and walked in to this restaurant without any expectation. It was a great surprise when I started the main course Octopus “à lagareiro” as they forgot my starter, Garlic Prawns which came a little after when they noticed the mistake. However, the two dishes go perfectly together and I really enjoyed them. The pastry tentugal style with orange is delicious with a cup a coffee to end the meal.
My family enjoyed a really great meal here recently. The food, service and atmosphere were all outstanding. We were seated on the back patio, and despite the warm evening, the fan directly overhead kept the air moving. We started with cocktails, my son and I loved our Porto Tonicos (best we had in the city). We shared garlic prawns, seafood ceviche, pork cheeks, tempura beans and the monkfish and prawn rice. The wait staff were helpful and very efficient. Loved this entire experience and highly recommend it to others.

Nice atmosphere for this elevated "tasca" where you can taste authentic portuguese food mainly from Alentejo. Everything is good: food, service and decoration. Prices are a little bit on the expensive side.
First class in every way
Lovely atmosphere and setting. Staff were pleasant, there was a little confusion with our booking and they just made sure we had a table. The food was delicious - traditional but elevated. As other reviews have said there are some cover charges and a small service charge (which was clearly pointed out and optional) but it didnt seem that unusual for the type of place it is.
Do not go here unless you want to be insulted by the staff. We waited 30 minutes to be seated and the staff made us feel very uncomfortable, including the guy at the bar who stared at us the whole time. They were very late with the food and made disparaging remarks about us being tourists. Avoid.
We were approached by a very friendly gentleman while we saw the Menu displayed at the entrance in such a pleasant way that we didn't even think twice about entering. We ordered two bites, the food was served quickly and was very good.Biscuit cake in delicious dessert.Congratulations on the 5 star service.
