We’re in Quinta Do Lago for a fortnight after a busy Christmas at home , on a walk around the lake on Thursday morning we spotted this restaurant and decided to try for a reservation that evening. We weren’t disappointed. The staff were all excellent , I started with fish pie and my wife had the traditional Portuguese prawns followed by sea bass and monk fish all cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed a lovely Alvarinho wine. We will return

A visit to Casa do Lago is always a treat. This November day had been sunny and warm, but the evening was cold which meant eating indoors. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully presented, and we were shown to a comfortable table for four by the window furthest away from the outdoor tables. A perfect position on that side of the restaurant. There was only a handful of diners, apart from our family, most were couples. Inevitably though, with so few people, there was little buzz in the restaurant, just a respectful murmuration of close conversation. With so few people you might have expected the service to be ‘on point’. But it was actually quite slow, and some of the drinks we ordered would have been forgotten without a reminder. We had quite a confusing conversation about the sea bass we wanted to order, and what turned up was not what we expected. We thought we had ordered a whole fish for two, but served off the bone, when what turned up was a fillet each which appeared to have been fried (this was another choice on the menu). It had taken a while to arrive, so we went with it, and it did look appetising, but turned out to be merely ‘good’ when fish here is normally excellent. We had decided against a starter, in order to leave room for pudding. The crème caramel with brandy soaked prunes was very good, as was the semifreddo which was my choice…well I say my choice, but my daughter’s spoon crept across a couple of times to sample it. What I had was excellent. Eating here can be expensive. This meal however, did not break the bank, and we left feeling quite replete, and at a reasonable cost. We all thought that the menu had been simplified since our last visit. It isn’t quite the same eating inside at Casa do Lago. The ideal is outside, by the lake, in a warm setting sun. We have had cozy meals inside in the past with greater numbers of diners, and a more lively atmosphere…but a restaurant can’t control numbers out of season, even one with as good a reputation as this.

We had a lovely night in here as the setting here is second to none. But I have to add that for the prices they charge the food should be great rather than good. There is really nothing special about the menu and the food as I said is nothing to rave about, also all sides are extra which is a bit cheeky.

Great restaurant, wonderful setting on the edge of the lake and really good food, what more could you ask for, we will be going back.

We just had our wedding here and it was amazing, all of the guests couldn’t believe how beautiful the setting and the food was. The service was impeccable and the day was perfect. A big thanks to Beverley the food and beverage manager, her customer service and professionalism was first class and ensured we had no doubts our guests would have a special day.

Very good service - food good for lunch - one minor negative is the abundance of football strips and go fast haircuts and male an odd teenager with shirt - I would really like to to come back again for dinner - some customers attire is unacceptable-

A perfect venue, the service and food are always 5*. We have been coming here for many years, always so enjoyable. The sea bass is the best.

9 of us had a fab evening meal. Great selection of starters including oysters, calamari, tempura prawns and burrata. Wine selection also very good. We had a very nice NZ Sauvignon and it was good value. Had Stone Bass for main… pretty awesome. Nice setting and staff very attentive and friendly.

10/10 for location / setting. 9/10 for service. 8/10 for food. So it’s a must visit as the veranda on the lake is exceptionally beautiful. Service is efficient and friendly. Food is good without being ‘wow’. Think the setting and the prices deserve a notch up on the food quality. But it’s still a must visit if staying in Quinta.

We chose Casa do Lago to host our Wedding Day and WOW it certainly did not disappoint! Not only is it the most beautiful lakeside setting, but the food and the staff are equally impressive. From the moment I stepped out of the car, the lovely Beverley was on hand to calm my nerves, and continued throughout the day to ensure we had the best day of our lives. If you want to have a glimpse of what it’s like to be royalty for a day - have your wedding here! Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the canapés and food was, and of course the Portuguese wine that paired perfectly! Although we were not worried about that one bit, I could dine at Casa do a Lago every day. All the staff were absolutely incredible and our guests were naming who looked after them the next day, which I thought was so lovely. It felt to me and to all our family and friends, like we were being looked after by people who had known us for years. So personable but professional. We will certainly be back on our next visit to Portugal!

Fabulous setting and interior. Food is alright, but the service is awful. A succession of over keen waiters trying to upsell from the menu and worse still each and every one of them feels that they should fill everyone’s water glass to the top and incessantly top up wine glasses, followed by the customary “another bottle?”. If they could just tone down what they seem to see as service and a little more attention paid to the food prep then this would be an excellent food offer in Quinta. As is, it’s just an irritating experience

Our dream wedding at our dream location. We got married at Casa Do Lago in June 2022. Having visited on all our trips to Quinta, Casa holds a special place in our hearts and exceeded all expectations on the day. The setting in itself speaks for itself but the food, drink and staff on the day made our perfect day. All our guests commented on the standard of the food and how they were amazed that they manage to serve a 100 fillet steaks at the same time whilst perfectly cooked! The staff kept all drinks topped up throughout the day - there was never an empty glass. Beverley and her staff truly give you the best day. Everyone was well looked after and nothing was too much of an ask and high level service was maintained throughout the day - until the very early hours of the morning. Casa, you hold a very special place in our hearts - thank you for the best day!
