Maria and Rui are unique and offer unique experiences. I recommend immersing yourself in the creative and welcoming world of this couple and letting yourself be carried away by the current of taste throughout the meal.

To avoid a criticism intoxicated with the proximity to the experience we had, this time we allowed the necessary time to pass (around 15 days) so that we could make a raw and sincere assessment from a distance.
There are places that have the capacity to be oases in the places where they are established and Casa da Velha Fonte is clearly one of these examples.
If we divide the experience into a few steps such as Reservation, Reception, Tasting, Post Tasting and Post Experience Monitoring, our visit reached a level of excellence, which will remain in the annals of our memory until old age.
The Chef's attention to the fact that my wife was pregnant, the friendliness at the reception, the natural theatricality of the place, the surroundings, the symbiosis between chef Maria and Sommelier/Host Rui and of course, the quality of what we ate, were all incredible points.
May beings with this capacity for work and creativity be fed, because what we had was work worthy of a work of art.
I highly recommend visiting this place, but that you visit with an open mind and the ability to appreciate not only the quality of the food, but also the quality of the ingredients and the icing on the cake: the attention and care of this wonderful team.

We ate outdoors on the plot where Maria will build her restaurant. We were very pleased with both the food and the service. Maria's concept is very serious and well needed. Both she and her husband Rui are very nice and it added another dimension to the meal. We also want to thank Maria's friend António who helped to prepare the food. We really recommend others to come here!

We had a marvelous and unique meal at Casa da Velha Fonte. The restaurant shown on the map is under construction - so we had our dinner in Maria's home in Idanha-a-Nova. Maria is a very talented and knowledgeable chef, we enjoyed every course.

My husband and I enjoyed a creative and delicious meal at Chef Maria's when we were travelling through Monsanto Portugal (a very interesting town) in late September. We were first served a huge variety of appetizers, including delicious fruit compotes, cheeses and other items we'd never before tasted. This was followed by a cod dish, and then a medley of delicious fall vegetables and duck. We felt bad only because there was more food than we could do justice to. This was certainly the most incredible meal of our 2 week trip to Portugal and Spain.

A place for those who like to share good times, experience an experience that can only be found in few places in the world!
Maria and Rui, a Portuguese couple, are above all incredible human beings.
We spent a few hours of magic, engaged in intelligent, dedicated conversations, Rui with his knowledge that goes beyond, especially under Maria's command, preparing dishes with the most varied ingredients from the region, all in front of us!
Honestly, all my praise is not an exaggeration, they really are different and have a project to make history in the Monsanto region!
