We were looking so much forward to our visit to this restaurant to compare the Nordics Michelin Restaurants with this well recommended restaurant. We had the 14 course menu and the premium wine menu ( almost double up compared to their regular wine menu). The food was good, the service was fine, but a bit dissapointed when it comes to the premium wine menu, because we could see, that minimum 2 of the wines we got served was the same as the table next to us, which had the regular wine menu. Have to say, we felt a bit stupid to pay 60 Euros on top to get the premium. Unfortunately my husband got food poisoning, it started 5 hours after we left the restaurant, we did contact the restaurant twice, with no reply (so far). Would have expected more.
This is a very elegant top restaurant, serving high level gourmet cuisine. You need time to enjoy their set menus, we decided to go for the 14 course one, served in small portions. A delight for the eyes and the palate. At arrival you will be guided to the kitchen where the chef welcomes you with an amuse bouche. Not to forget; the top service.
Beautiful restaurant with impeccable service and fantastic food. We did the Traveling Around Portugal (10 stops) and LOVED it. I'm a pescatarian and the menu worked perfectly for me. It was mostly seafood and they provided a perfect substitution for the one meat dish. Ten stops was plenty if you're trying to decide between the two. Highly recommend!!!
The evening began with some history of the restaurant and an introduction to the Chef in the kitchen. The dining area was beautiful and spacious, the service was friendly and very detailed. The food and wine pairings were the best! We would highly recommend this dining experience for those visiting Porto.
Le Monument provides everything you could want from a fine dining experience. Chef Ricardo's menu was stunning with the inventiveness, execution, and beauty of the dishes served. We did the full tasting menu offering, which I think was to be 15 offerings But with all of the little surprises and special additions it topped 20. He put together unusual flavor pairings that were revelatory. The pacing was perfect. And although we were there for almost 4 hours, it was continually enjoyable. The service staff was also worthy of special mention. They were professional, poised, and the warmth they showed made us feel so welcome. The wine steward made excellent suggestions that paired well and were not expensive. And the room itself was a welcome classic fine dining environment. There was carpeting and plush upholstery that dampened the noise level, unlike so many modern restaurants that are all hard services. Also, we had some food sensitivities (gluten for one diner, and alcohol for the other) that the chef seamlessly accommodated. All in all it was delightful, the fine dining experience that I dreamed of.
Amazing evening at Le Monument! We were kindly gifted this meal as a wedding present and have no doubts in recommending the experience to others. The food was incredible and at times, like eating art. In particular we loved the desserts which were intricate and tasty. We took a recommended glass of wine with each course based on our tastes and thoroughly enjoyed these. The absolute stand out element of the evening was the service, of which we’ve never had better anywhere we’ve eaten. It was truly faultless and made us feel so special. In particular the manager on that evening (August 4th) we think he was called Ricardo and our waiter were absolutely excellent. Thank you for making this such a memorable evening for us!
This is clearly a very high quality restaurant. There are special touches, we really enjoyed the mini museum and meeting the head chef at the start and the setting was fantastic. The food was very good, we enjoyed every course of our 14 plates - however we have tasted better food from other Michelin star restaurants. This is not a criticism, merely a fact of how high the competition is these days. The service however was, by a margin, the best we have every experienced, the waiters were knowledgeable, prompt and everything came our seamlessly. Getting 14 course to appear, at the right time at the right temperature is not easy but they made it look effortless. So overall a great evening out with some really good food. Price and food (compared to other similar restaurants we've tried in the past 12 months) are the reason for 4 not 5 stars.
As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, we were impressed by its elegance and warmth. The menu at Le Monument was an ode to Portugal's rich cuisine, with dishes crafted with care, creativity, and local ingredients of the highest quality. Each dish we tried was a gastronomic marvel, balancing flavors and textures brilliantly. The staff, led by our wonderful server, enhanced the experience with their impeccable service. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about providing an unforgettable dining experience. Special mention goes to the way they catered to our dietary requirements with sensitivity and adaptability, making sure our meal was perfect in every sense. Le Monument isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary journey through the heart of Portugal's gastronomic tradition, served in a setting that's as beautiful as the food is delicious.

To say that it was simply delicious is really an understatement. All the details are well thought out, the staff know their job down to the last detail, the food is divine, the wine pairing is perfect. Also, the menu was specially adapted to suit a pregnant woman and the delicate birthday greeting was the cherry on the top. Thank you for a fabulous food journey!

A memorable evening in this elegant restaurant. The food and service were impecciable - perhaps striving for that second star?! We opted for the 10 “visits,” all flawless, with delightful and intriguing - sometimes unlikely, but all wonderful - flavor combinations, and stunning presentation. The wine steward provided excellent suggestions for our individual glasses of wine and port. They gracefully accommodated my husband’s need for a gluten free meal, including “the best GF bread, ever.” The husband/wife team of phenomenal chef and pastry chef makes a fantastic pairing.
One of the best meals I have had. Was fun and exciting from start to finish. On par with other Michelin star restaurants with equally prompt service. Small and comfortable restaurant as well. Highly recommend. In my experience, one downside to the high-end tasting menu is you often leave feeling like you have over-eaten. Each course, and the meal as a whole felt very appropriately portioned.
Top notch Michelin restaurant. We were greeted at the door, walked through the kitchen to be personally welcomed by the chef, and then treated to a remarkable 10 course tasting menu of Portuguese specialties. The presentation of each dish and impeccable service were the icing on the cake of delicious flavors. Perfect pairings of wine every step of the way and friendly staff (special shout out to Ricardo!). We were here to celebrate a birthday on our last night in Portugal and it was absolutely the best way to end our trip to Europe.
