Nice people working here but an absolute rip off. The codfish was tough, poorly cooked, and perhaps the worst I have ever eaten in Portugal. We felt very cheated by the cost, which the service was not upfront about. For a supposed “dish of they day” lunch, charging almost 30 euros per person (1 glass of house wine each and dessert for 1 person included, but we didn’t consume the bread or olives), is absolutely outrageous. The cod was tough and barely edible and, to be honest, we both ended up with upset stomachs all afternoon from something we ate. I wanted to like this place as I do business in the area but will not return and do not recommend unless you want to be ripped off and to leave feeling nauseous. I don’t think they are hygienic as the last time we were there (this was our second time), one of us got food poisoning. We thought maybe it was a coincidence but after feeling ill a second time, there is definitely something wrong with this place. Nice people, terrible food, unacceptable prices, at least when they see people from out of town. Perhaps they locals get better prices… which would be illegal.

Good spot close to the lava pools. We ate on the terrace which has a good view of the sea but is not next to it. Service was good and the food was very good. Very popular despite being November
Very nice food and for a good price. Really good for people with food allergies or intolerances as it has a large menu that is clearly labelled out.
Stopped here for lunch during a Madeira trip. Everything was good: staff polite, waiting time short, food and cofee very good, especially the fish soup. Worth a visit!
We went for dinner at 7pm and started with some garlicbutter bread baked in the brick oven. For mains we had the black scabbard fish with banana which is a local specialty, and a medium baked beef with cream sauce. Both the fish and the meat were very good! As a desert we shared a piece of the homemade bananapie with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. On the picture it looks like a lot of cinnamon, but most of it was on the plate so it did not affect the taste of the pie. The service was very good and very quick. Perhaps a bit too quick in our opinion. The view from the terrace was okay. One one side it has a partial view over the ocean but it is blocked by two buildings, so it’s more of a view between the buildings. The other side looks more over the promenade. Would eat there again to try other dishes if I visit Porto Moniz again.
Good service and very good food.

We had a great meal at Polo Notre. Excellent grilled squid (the best we tried in Madeira), tasty house style octopus and delicious grilled mussels. The staff was super friendly and very kind to our two young children. A glass of complimentary Madeira wine at the end was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend this great restaurant.
Perhaps just bad luck but ordered the grilled Scabbard Fish (Dorado) and it had not white fish flakiness or consistency one would expect of a meaty fish. Basically it tasted ‘mushy’. Perhaps badly frozen/unfrozen?
Its a good restaurant, not perfect. The Bodeão grelhado is definetely the right dish to order. Complement that with a typical beef spit.
Very good food ?️Service 10/10I'll be back when I pass byP.S - Their homemade pudding is magnificent ?

Nice food, we ate it here twice (mainly sea food and fish) during our stay in Porto Moniz. We would like to thank especially the waiter, Carlos & the waitress for their friendly service and serving us delicious ponchas. ;) And thank you for their patience towards us, noisy Hungarians. :D
The restaurant is in a nice location but service terrible and quality of food diabolical and cold, does not turn up in the order requested. Rename the circus tavern!
We were brought here on a Jeep Tour after a nice swim in the pools and what was actually a very pleasant day tour. The driver called ahead and placed our order. It was €17 per person for a meal. They charged €11 for my 7 year old daughter who loves fish and eats it everyday. It was terrible. No one in our group liked the food. We have been in Madeira for a week now and everything we have eaten has been fantastic (except the breakfast at the hotel, but that is included, quick and easy; wouldn't come to Madeira to dine in a hotel anyway). The fish was particularly bad and for €17 per adult must be the most expensive place we have eaten with the worst quality and service. They didn't even ask if it was OK. My daughter was obviously hungry and she didn't like my roast pork which to be honest wasn't the worst but not enough for either an adult meal or the price. We ordered her some plain pasta which was not the best either and they charged €4 for the privilege. She is not a fussy eater and eats fish most days, we actually try to persuade her to eat other meats but nevertheless, we live on a island and eat fish too. The dessert was supposed to be some caramel pudding thing. It was so bad in appearence and looks that another member or the tour had received it and passed it along to us. We realised soon after that she had actually ordered the same thing and didn't recognise or expect what she received. It tasted more like fish than the fish. I couldn't believe it and didn't make a fuss as it was my wife's birthday. On leaving the tour guide asked and I told him the truth, he was with another (female) tour guide outside and they were saying the restaurant is so good they take their families. Typical tourist trap. Beware. I wasn't expecting such bad food although I knew they'd obviously be in cahoots due to the ringing ahead and being a seasoned traveller. Nevertheless, it was terrible, substandard quality and completely overpriced for what it was. I enjoyed the tour overall, I don't want to name to company but I felt I should alert others about this restaurant. That reminds me, we asked for chips for my daughter and they gave her potatoes which she didn't want and doesn't like. I eat out a lot and three times a day on holiday. I don't think I've seen anything as bad as this. Everyone on the trip was in agreement of the substandard everything about this place.
Good food. Also went out of their way to return a bag we had left. Thank you so much. (Nothing else to write but have to fill the space.)
Good food very friendly and welcoming
