On our first night in Lisbon, after spending a few days in Porto, we checked into a hotel in the Rossio neighborhood of Lisbon. Our hotel recommended a few places and suggested we get a reservation due to the many tourists in Lisbon. We reserved a table at Carmo and came here for dinner. The restaurant is decorated in a very tasteful manner with tables spaced apart enough that you can enjoy your own conversation without overhearing your neighbors. There are little tea lights lit throughout the restaurant on shelves and I found it quite romantic. We received a menu and 1 minute later the waiter came around asking what we wanted. When we noted that we needed time to decide on drinks and food, he because pushy. I didn't like that, considering there weren't other patrons waiting and we really needed time to check out the menu in the dimly lit restaurant. The tapas were average at best and the meal wasn't really memorable. What was memorable, was that the cutlery on the tables wasn't clean and when we noted this to the waiter, he brought a 2nd set, also not clean. I was a bit grossed out. We ended up cutting our food and eating it with our hands - thankful that the food wasn't too hot to handle and were tapas. We ended up not having any dessert and leaving right after our meal was over. Uneventful and I'd suggest going elsewhere.

We have visited this place on our first trip to Lissabon and found this restaurant by accident. The place is nice but the cutlery was not polished, what felt a bit wierd. The plus: very nice service and helpful as much as possible. The food was good, nothing such special however it felt the pasta was Selfmade. We struggle a bit between three and four stars and would rate this between both. Nice place for lunch!
