“There are several ways of working in gastronomy, but the one I really appreciate most is when you work with love and especially with affection for those looking for a different restaurant, where we are treated not as customers, but as part of the family. Thank you and see you on your next quick visit.“

“Very nice fine dining experience to discover regional flavors from Coimbra. The service was outstanding and we felt very comfortable right from the start. My companion's request for a vegan menu was immediately answered in the affirmative. We both opted for the 7-course menu. Thank you to the whole team for a fantastic evening and keep up the good work ??
Vegetarian options: Vegetarisches als auch Veganes Menü möglich ?“

“Excellent food. Fresh ingredients cooked on the grill outside in front of us. We had the tasting menu and got our money's worth. The owner was kind and took good care of us. The location was so romantic, down a cobblestone street. I felt like I was in another world, coming from thee US. It was magical.“

“Homemade and abundant Portuguese food. One of those restaurants that if you like typical, unpretentious and honest places, you have to save. Located in an alley, it is an old house and adapted as a restaurant. They attended us even though they were about to close and of course, with a smile and wonderful kindness. There were dishes that were already sold out by the hour but we ordered soup, 3 types of grilled fish with their accompaniments and rice with beans and grilled chops that were simply perfect. The half portions are enough for more than one. We didn't get to the desserts but if we return to Coimbra we will definitely repeat. We have left our small works of art there as souvenirs and hope to see them again. ?“

“I start by mentioning that it is my favorite restaurant to taste suckling pig: Without a doubt the best quality and price in the region
In recent years, suckling pig for me has only been served at Churrasqueira Rocha, everything has always been impeccable, from the service, suckling pig, starters, garnish and dessert.
I'm just sorry I can't go more often a year ;)“

“Although we have been a little hot because it does not have AC, that's why my 4 stars, the place is small and picturesque, very well attended by Adriana. Homemade food. As a starter we ordered a dish of the day which was a toast with sardines and peppers: Broa c/ sardine peppers. For the main course we ordered the María Río tasting menu: Bacalhau à rio, Favas à portuguesa and Feijoada de cogumelos. All very delicious, bathed with a green house wine. They speak English as well.“

“Very pleasant space with large outdoor terraces at the front and back of the building which gives access to a huge, beautiful and idyllic garden, full of animals and with beautiful and tasteful landscaping. Now with an amusement park for children. Very well maintained and clean space.
Wide variety of pastries and savory cakes, it's difficult to choose. Everything very well prepared, fresh and delicious. Delicious cornbread!
They serve meals from Monday to Friday. Good price/quality ratio.
Ideal place to visit with family and friends and enjoy the sweets and idyllic garden, ideal place to celebrate a birthday and enjoy an afternoon well spent.“

“Quality product and friendly treatment.
Maybe it was somewhat tourist-oriented (there were a lot of foreigners), or maybe it was because of the day/time we went, but in any case it seemed very authentic.
The children's menu is very good.
It is not cheap for Coimbra.
Kid-friendliness: Very good. They have a children's menu.“

“Very well decorated space, with very good service and great atmosphere. Every time I've been to lunch I haven't really liked the dish of the day: I think it's expensive for the quality of the food. But the dishes on the menu are very good and the desserts are divine. I recommend it for dinner despite the prices being high. At lunch, we must first confirm what the daily dishes are.“

“A great success from Coimbra too. We ordered a plate for 2 and we had leftovers, I'll leave it there. Huge dish of goat cooked in wine for hours... Buff, very delicious, very much. And the perfect grilled sea bream! Ah! And the spectacular homemade caramel slime!!
A place to repeat for sure!
Ah! And you can pay by card!“

“New experience. We chose daily dishes (lagareiro-style cuttlefish strips and grilled maminha). The daily rate includes soup, dish, drink, dessert of the day or fries and coffee. The quality is excellent and the quantity, considering the price, is also excellent. I recommend.“

“On the advice of a friend who lived in Coimbra we headed here for dinner: very good dishes (we ate meat) accompanied by classic Portuguese side dishes (salad with onions, tomatoes and potatoes). All very good, informal place, attentive but discreet and kind service, very reasonable price (we spent €24 for two!).
To try!“

“We arrived without a reservation on a very busy day, yet they found us a table in a matter of minutes, we were very well received, both the employees and the boss were always worried about our well-being, the dish chosen was a mix that I can guarantee was a One of the best and best served meals I've ever eaten. The owner even comes to present the platter of meat before grilling it, which adds even more charm ?
Everything was really good, congratulations to the team ? we will definitely be back

“??: What a wonderful discovery this is.
I went in search of some Coimbra-style migas and ended up enjoying the Açorda that accompanied the fried petinga.
One of the best açordas I've eaten in my life.
All the food was extremely fresh and delicious, even the mixed salad.
I recommend it 100% and will definitely be back.
Not to mention the waiters, the girl who served us first and the man who finished our service. Both of them extremely friendly.
??: What an amazing finding this one
I was looking for a place that served “Migas à moda de Coimbra”, which is a dish made with bread, black eyed peas and cabbage.
I end up delighting on the “Açorda” that was a side dish of the fried “petinga”(small sardine like whitebait)
It was one of the best “Açorda” I’ve eaten in my life.
All food we ordered was fresh and delicious.
I recommend this place 100% and no doubt I’ll be back
Also to mentioned the staff that was so friendly and so nice to us. Always with a smile on their faces“

“I loved this bakery/pastry shop. Everything was fresh and the service was quick and attentive. The snacks and croissants are the best I've ever eaten ? the Berlin balls would be the same if they had powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar but this is a personal taste ? the god's bread, being the name of the establishment, could have a little more coconut, I found it very dry.“

“Eating suckling pig is at Musaga. I've eaten suckling pig in different restaurants, but this one surprised me. The piglet had no fat, the skin and meat of the piglet was very tasty. Of course accompanied by a sparkling wine recommended by the employee, which was ?. We didn't leave without a delicious dessert. In short, 1/2 suckling pig with fries, 1 bottle of sparkling wine worth €17 and 3 desserts, totaling €144.“

“There are 2 national sandwiches in Portugal the Francesinha and Bifana (pulled pork) Sandwich.
Francesinha Sandwich ...ham, steak filet, chorizo, smoked sausage, cheese, toasted bread, sweet red pepper\tomato garlic sauce ?
If you want the best Francesinha in Coimbra then come here. Our guide and BNB host both recommended this place, Café Atenas.
The best Francesinha we've had. Great value and really good expression of a Portuguese classic!“
“The best place to enjoy good food and the best live music in all of Coimbra and part of Portugal. The waiter is very friendly, and has no problem speaking Portuguese, Spanish or English...and surely some other language. The menu is simple but the food is very good at a reasonable price. The best without a doubt, the live music. We have been twice and on one occasion we have enjoyed a fadista and a Portuguese guitar guitarist, and a very excellent concert by Luis Travassos (@luistravassos.oficial), a magical voice and way of singing that turned the evening into something spectacular.
Kid-friendliness: Children can dine without problem and enjoy the atmosphere and music.“

“A Lifesaver in CoimbraExhausted after a long day of shooting, we realized we hadn't even eaten lunch. Asking the hotel receptionist for a recommendation, she enthusiastically declared Arco Bar her "lifesaver."A short walk of 5-10 minutes later, we arrived at Arco Bar. While the exterior appeared intimate, the inside surprised us with a comfortable space accommodating roughly 50 guests. The atmosphere was lively, bathed in the warm glow of numerous ceiling bulbs.Having enjoyed Douro Doc wine for the past three days, we decided to stick with what we knew and ordered another bottle. While we weren't wine experts, the Douro region hadn't disappointed us yet.Our meal began with a delightful spread of olives and bread. Following the receptionist's recommendation, we opted for the grilled black pig, a renowned dish in Coimbra alongside codfish. And let me tell you, the black pig was nothing short of "Delicioso"! This trip, we liberally used the phrase "Out of this World," and the black pig undeniably earned that title.Fries at Arco Bar was equally impressive. Perfectly cooked, it achieved a balance of firm texture without being tough and juicy without being soggy. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be, well, you guessed it – "Out of this World"!While my coworker's shrimp omelet appeared less exciting on the plate, it proved to be light, fresh, and perfect for a pre-bedtime meal. However, the true highlight of the meal was the dessert. While I can't quite recall the specifics, it was possibly a firmer, sweeter version of tiramisu paired with a delightful chocolate mousse. Both were simply divine! The final bill was surprisingly reasonable considering the quality of the food. I left Arco Bar feeling like I could easily dine there every day!“

If it's my kind of meal? No! Was it worth it? Yes!

“Massive tasty Italian style pizzas for a really good price. We came pretty early in the afternoon on a Saturday and it was dead, so can't comment on the atmosphere much. The menu doesn't say the size of pizzas, but a small is about 11" and a large 13"+.“

“The Chef's Tavern is not a house of great luxuries! And let it be said, in all honesty, that they are not necessary! The quality of the food and service speak for themselves! From the magnificent kebabs to the grilled piece of veal, cod and stew, among others, everything is delicious! At least I like it and most people I know who know the house share the same opinion! The only drawback is the reduced space! But maybe even that makes the tavern different! Try...
Note: I recommend booking in advance!“

“I wanted to take my sister to a Michelin Restaurant for her birthday dinner while we were here in Coimbra. We decided to go to Casa do Bragal and we are so delighted that we choose this setting for her dinner. We walked in and it felt that we were in some ones home there were books and paintings all over the restaurant. The tables were set beautifully. We were a little early for the 8:00 PM opening and we were invited in to sit by the owner. When we got to the table it was set with a few different before dinner treats. We had olives, a beet dish, sardines, a type of marinated beans, a mushroom tart & the cheese was adorned with a sweet pepper relish. Our main meals came out under a covered dome and it was enjoyable to have them remove the cover to display the meal. I had the scallops with watercress rice and my sister had the veal with potatoes and spinach. They were extremely tasty. We saved room for dessert since it was a buffet of 12 different choices including, rice pudding, tiramisu, chocolate mousse, flan and many others. The owner was so gracious and helped us make some of our choices, the waiter was so observant that he even turned the light on when I headed for the ladies room. It was such an enchanting evening and we would highly recommend this restaurant to others.“
