I'd go six stars if there were such an option. We have had the pleasure of dining in Joao's restaurant for several years. We used to dine with him at his former location in Sitio. It's one thing to have a spectacular dining experience, sometimes by accident, at a restaurant.- but a real artist can *repeat* the magic, over and over again, year after year. The food is as good as any you will find in Portugal, (and the competition is fierce, Portugal is a land of excellent food)....read full review

The restaurant's concept of hospitality is truly unique, with the manager conversing with guests in their native language. The menu features top dishes like Argentinian Angus beef, salmon, grilled sea bass, and octopus, all prepared with great skill. The skewers, beef, and shrimp are cooked just right, and are very satisfying, often paired with fresh salads and coleslaw. Clam soup is also highly recommended, flavorful and hearty. Presentation is impressive, with dishes arriving like a show. The friendly and funny servers add to the warm atmosphere. With excellent food, friendly staff, and a cozy environment, Adega João Clau remains a must-visit destination that will not disappoint.
