“Recommended by Rick Steves travel guru this place did not disappoint . The sour cherry liquor of Portugal , ginja , was smooth & delicious with a delightful owner . He truly had a great sense of humor !”

“Very beautiful restaurant and very good food. We loved the starters and main dishes. The only negative point was the dessert, which was clearly not of the day. We were advised by an employee and unfortunately it was a hard cake that didn't fit in at all with the good experience we had had with the meal. It is not good form to recommend a dessert that is not fresh. Apart from this unfortunate event, the experience was good.”

“Exceptional quality and cooking of grilled meats at a fair price. Highly recommended for those who want to get off the tourist routes of Obidos to try real Portuguese country cuisine in an informal and perhaps a little noisy environment.”

“A highly recommended restaurant to try different dishes as a couple or with family/friends. Very nice views of the church from the interior patio. Very good treatment from the staff who gave us a table without a reservation despite it being full. We ordered the ceviche (OK but not the best of our lives), the cod croquettes which were delicious and to finish the Iberian pluma (good flavor but a little dry). For dessert: creme brulée, which was very good. In general a bit expensive compared to the rest of the restaurants in Óbidos.”

“Perfect, from the beginning of the service to the end, well prepared food, extremely friendly employees willing to serve the best. Excellent food for the price, I'll be back more often. ❤️”
“Fabulous. It is THE place to go and repeat if you go to Óbidos. The typical cafe of the locals where they make you feel at home. Simple, authentic and quality homemade food at a very good price. They serve you with unparalleled education and kindness. Cozy terrace where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings. To return without a doubt”

“Good beneficial x price ratio. Good food and "honest" service. The inside room, where I ate, is a normal place that didn't generate any special memories for me, but remember that there are tables outside where you can have a view of the citadel and, perhaps, a more pleasant experience.”
“Thanks to the lady who runs the store today I was able to find where my ancestors lived. This speaks of his quality as a person. My heart bursts with joy and it gives me hope that there are still such good people. Thanks for your kind attention.”
“Popular cafe and restaurant. Real homemade food! The “boss”, Dona Paula, a lovely person, says: “We cook food like we like it”. Almost everything has been said.It is usually dedicated to the dish of the day and that's it. Very good.Example, stew meat with puree. Suggestion: swap the puree for the fries. Fried real potato.Well, the puree if it's like what our mother used to make, then don't change it!The attention of the maid and owner is surprisingly friendly.Who would have thought that this roadside brewery/tavern had these surprises in store.Go and you will like it.Attention: popular space, don't expect luxuries. And so it is even tastier.Note: Homemade French fries, cut into thick sticks and fried. Wonderful.Note 2 - My dears, if there is no dish of the day, order a hamburger on the plate. It comes with such wonderful french fries, tomato and cucumber salad, cut into small pieces and two “homemade meat” burgers. It is worth it.Saturday yes, Saturday no, has Portuguese stew. Come early as it disappears in the twinkling of an eye.If it's the day of the stewed meat with potatoes baked in the oven, everything is done very slowly, almost like in a wood oven. The gowns, for example, took 3 hours to bake to be evenly baked. Excellent for where pork replaces beef comes from. View images. The salad is fantastic, simple but remarkably seasoned. Products from Óbidos, tasty and lively.Call to find out what the dish of the day will be.As the phone number is not easy to find, here it is: 262 100 177The dish of the day costs €7.50 with soup and a beer.Come with an appetite. There's plenty here. But there really is.”
“A bit pretentious as its name suggests.
The prices are correct, but the tastes are nothing exceptional (it's still OK despite everything). And I was entitled to very fast service between the starter and the main course, but I waited a long time for the dessert.
However, the chocolate cake is really very good.
And the terrace under the lemon tree is just great”
“Best customer service ever! In the terrace and the proper bar. Incredible atmosphere, the people in the terrace really friendly and Catia in the bar top! If you want to try a proper ginja in a unique environment dont miss this place!”

“Very cozy little place ideal for eating on the go, but with unfriendly service and speaking neither French nor English, without any help to advise. Excellent sandwiches and very well served with sweet potato chips and grapes. I recommend 100% in this town of Obidos where many restaurants are adapted to tourists and are no longer really authentic”

“I recommend. The pizzas, for the quality, are reasonably priced. Drinks and starters are very expensive. Still, for an occasional dinner/lunch, it's worth it. Good quality of ingredients. Very pleasant terrace and atmosphere. Friendly staff!
Vegetarian options: For pizzas, there are vegetarian and mushroom pizzas.”

“This space offers a unique experience that combines gastronomy, culture and entertainment. Its decor reminiscent of a library, filled with books, provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, creating an atmosphere that stimulates both the mind and the palate.
The inclusion of live music, especially with the presence of a violinist, adds an extra layer of charm to this already captivating setting.
However, there is a notable personal preference for weekends, when a young violinist lends her musical skill to further enhance the experience.
His dexterity in playing the violin elevates the atmosphere to a higher level of appreciation, making meals not only a gastronomic experience, but also an auditory delight.
In short, while the "Casa do Pastel de Bacalhau" in Óbidos is already a charming destination in itself, the addition of live music, especially in the talented hands of young violinist Dulce Félix, elevates the experience to a higher level, making it to make it even more memorable and enjoyable for visitors.
I highly recommend the Cod Pastel with Cheese filling. It's delicious!”
“(Translated by Google) Super friendly employee. I didn't consume anything, but the girl was super helpful in giving me directions on where I should go to buy tobacco. At the end, as the only establishment in the whole village where it would be possible to go was closed, he was genuinely kind and gave me 2 cigarettes with a smile that I will not forget. Thank you ?(Original)Colaboradora super simpática. Não consumi nada, mas a menina foi super prestável a dar me indicações de onde me devia dirigir para comprar tabaco. No final visto que estava fechado o único estabelecimento em toda a vila onde seria possível ir, foi genuinamente gentil e deu me 2 cigarros com um sorriso que não vou esquecer. Obrigado ?”

“We had simply the best experience here today!
We have never experienced such wonderfully authentic Indian food before - the flavours were on a different level.
It is so far removed from the commercial, stodgy “Indian” food we remember back in the UK - this is so very different - a true flavour of the Punjab - made with love and served by kind hearts.
There was a very warm welcome at the door, a thoughtful explanation of all the dishes ( including the Punjabi origins, the ingredients/spices, the recommended combinations, the wines etc ) and excellent service throughout the meal - it really was quite memorable.
The starters of the Onion Bhaji and Gol Gappa Chaat were truly outstanding and set our expectations for the mains. We were not disappointed! The layers of flavour in the Honey Cauliflower and Butter Chicken were amazing - all washed down with a few glasses of chilled Alentejo wine.
A big Thank You to you all for such an amazing experience
We will definitely be back
Obrigadinho
Até à próxima”

“Every year when we are on vacation in this area, Flavors of Italy is a must for me and my family.
Delicious dishes, elegant but cozy atmosphere and simply impeccable service.
What can you say about a place where they remember you from one year to the next and come to greet you... that I hope we repeat next year again.”

“Great bar, run by a lovely welcoming couple.
All the cocktails we drank were amazing, marg, negroni, paloma, espresso martini, good beer and wine.
Would recommend, especially when live music is on. They promote this on Instagram.”

“An excellent surprise to discover.
From the drink to the dish, everything is truly excellent.
A service that listens.
I recommend the pineapple-basil lemonade which was great.
For the dishes I was able to try the pork ramen (the presentation and taste were top notch), I have rarely been able to eat one this good.
The sushi/makis (fusion) were the best I've tried in Portugal (in the few Japanese restaurants I've been able to try), including the all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant in Calas da Rainha which didn't convince me.
The salmon bao was excellent (even if it's not strictly speaking a Japanese dish).”

“Let me start off by saying I was attended by Manu, who was an excellent waiter, super attentive, professional, a good communicator, and over-all helpful. He educated me on how to properly eat the course, and revealed good knowledge. As for the kitchen, the food (Butter Chicken + Rice + Garlic Naan) was absolutely delicious, good portions, and the drinks were at perfect temperature. The only thing that the restaurant could improve would be air conditioning. It was pretty hot in there. But overall, Manu and the kitchen seized the day and made it a great visit. Will definitely come over again.”

“The best place for margaritas! I tried the fish tacos. They had the best breading I have had, perfect amount of crispiness, and fluffiness, not too heavy. I highly recommend! I also loved the taco pizza for an appetizer. Friendly owners. I'll be back!”

The service is very good. A correct address.”

“Our group was very large and, even so, there were no problems. The service was efficient and the food was good and in large quantities. There is always a bit of noise because it is a very large restaurant, with a lot of people, particularly groups.”
“Rotas is not just food it is an experience. It is cozy, exciting and welcoming. The food and presentation is comparable to those of fine dining places, with down to earth prices and owners. The vegan pie was also heavenly.”

“Llegamos media hora antes de la hora de cierre y fueron muy amables y nos dejaron entrar. Para entonces solo quedaba una opción del menú, pero era saludable y estaba muy buena. Espacio antiespecista y además dejan entrar a perros. No sirven alchool. Updated from previous review on 2024-08-08”

“I would like to express my compliments to Amanda for her excellent work.
Not only was she extremely friendly and polite, but she also made great recommendations for dishes and appetizers that we might enjoy. In the end, she was right; we really liked her suggestions. The food was excellent, with a great price/quality ratio, making our visit to Óbidos a must whenever we are on vacation.
Thank you, Amanda.”
