We traveled 40kms to get here and it was closed. On Google Maps it says it is open. They should be more careful...

We arrived at Adega do Barreirinho knowing little what to expect. The restaurant was empty, but we were very well received nonetheless.
The service was great. We were catered by the chef, an older and experienced cook, and a little boy, very friendly and helpful. Not usual nowadays, but for some these may be good trying times.
We had secretos, plumas, lagartos, and dourada. Everything was great, well grilled, sided by some nice white wine and the fish was very fresh.
For desert, pudim flan and quindim, home made ❤️.
We drove for quite a while, but the scenery of a different Alentejo, crowned with a lovely dinner, were the right way to end the day.
PS: I forgot to take pictures of the rest, but I'll be back to make them!

Good choice if you have time to wait!
The food is great but the waiting time is more than acceptable.
Give 4 stars for the service and food!

This seemed like a nice little restaurant, but we were severely disappointed.
- Our waiter was around 10 years old.
- We had the secretos de porco preto, which were alright.
- The sauteed veggies did not see a drop of oil. It was boiled, bland, frozen veggies.
- The sauteed potatoe (actually, that wasn't even a full potato) on the other hand, was swimming in oil.
- The rice was drowning in butter.
- The coke was warm, so we asked for ice. We had to ask 4 times before we actually got it. When we did get it, it was dirty, so we had to ask for new ice. We got two small pieces.
There were other small things which I won't complain about here, but this was not a good experience and we won't be coming back.

This is a nice restaurant with good parking. It is in general like most Alentejo Restaurants in terms of the interior. However, a little untypical was, that they had fresh fish offerings displayed. So I choose a Dorade. And that was excellent. Simply grilled. For me perfect. Prices had been reasonable. The service was good. I will visit them again.

Guys, this is hell and the demons in it. There is one menu for the entire cafe and I’m not kidding, we asked three times when we arrived in a large group. But to hell with the menu. What they cook is impossible to eat. The salad with octopus crunches like sand on the teeth, there are rubber octopuses in it and a lot of cilantro, limp.14 euros for a steel plate of monstrously poorly cooked meat, into which half a salt shaker was poured - this is crazy. And it’s not about the euro, the point is that it’s impossible to eat. On the next plate there was three times less salt in the same meat.Of the 4 positions, they only succeeded in grilled fish. They poured lemon over it, but at least they didn’t oversalt it.They tried really, really hard - but we left with grumbling stomachs and broken hearts.***Amazing! We left the highway and made a detour of almost 70 kilometers to come here and did not regret a moment: the best lunch, unexpected pleasant company and a very, very sincere attitude! The most cozy and delicious place of the whole trip, if we are somewhere else nearby, we will definitely stop by!From the important: there is no payment with international bank cards, only local ones. The prices are low and the portions are very impressive in size.By the way, the monkfish here is simply divine)

It was already a good recommendation under German management. Now under new ownership and a Portuguese chef, also a good address, as a typical Alentejo restaurant. Honest, down-to-earth grilled dishes. Friendly service, also English speaking. Nice outdoor seating when the sun is shining, even in winter.
