“We absolutely love this place - the speciality suckling pig is honestly one of the best things you can possibly eat. No frills, and a bit rough around the edges but all adds to the undeniable charm. Couvert includes some amazing homemade bread and the starter meat and cheese board had some amazing things on it including homemade chorizo, a warm sheep’s cheese, incredible cured ham and some spicy goats cheese. The menu is actually quite extensive and varied and I wish I had the space to eat more of it. If I could give 6 out of 5 I would, absolutely essential if you’re within 100km.“

“The owners of this place truly are passionate about what they do. Their English is perfect. The menu is perfect and has something for everybody. If you have dietary restrictions of any shape or form, they have something for you. I can also confirm that Elvis is indeed alive, because that’s the name of the gentleman who owns this restaurant and he is as cool as the breeze. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. It is legit that good! This was the perfect way to end a one month tour of Spain and Portugal.“

Tasted very good, but not particular spicy (which we like) but they give you piri-piri on the side if you want to spice it up. “My wife, my son and I came because of the good rating on Tripadvisor and the truth is that it did not disappoint. First we ordered some garlic prawns and mussels and apart from being well cooked, the product was really fresh. For the second we ordered seafood paella because we come from Catalonia and we also wanted it, to the point, perfectly cooked and with very fresh product. The service is also very attentive. Out of 10 everything.“

“We got the Brunch for 2 and we loved it. The balance between sweet and savory food is just right. The eggs were done well enough not to make a mess when eating the bread, and the onions were caramelized very well. One element for improvement is that the peanut butter was too thick, and when combined with the pancake, was too difficult to chew.

The staff is really nice and friendly, and good vibe/music.

“Arrived 20 minutes before our reservation and our table was already free. The service was very friendly from the start and downplayed any disruptions with funny jokes. The food was great and was delivered quickly. All of the food tasted fresh and was very delicious. Always ask about vegetarian items as they are not always shown correctly on the menu.“

“Fresh and authentic cuisine. After trying our luck at a restaurant around the corner and unfortunately not getting a table, we asked the owner where he would like to eat. He recommended the Reis restaurant to us - the five of us just managed to get the last table. By 8 p.m. all the tables, inside and outside, were full and the line was getting longer and longer. Rightly so: there is fresh cataplana with plenty of excellent quality shrimp and mussels, and the rice stew with swordfish and shrimp was just as good. 40€ per dish for 2 people is almost too little considering the quantity and taste. Three people could be fed per pot. Our son (9 years old) had the pork steak with fig sauce - he ate it all, the sauce was so good and the meat was tender (he pushed the figs to the side ;)) We were very satisfied - the service was very friendly and accommodating. Great evening! (Total for 5 people with starters, main course and dessert + drinks 150€)“

On the wine side - beautiful selection of mostly Portuguese wines with a few internationals thrown in, 2 prices to either drink in or take home and a good choice of chilled bottles if you’re in need of something quick. Tapas was great, would particularly recommend the stingray, even my 8 year old son loved it. Finally, brilliant knowledgeable and caring staff - i did have a corked bottle one night and they exchanged immediately. Was gutted they went on holiday for the second part of our break but luckily we stocked up!“

We went to try the francesiña, which is a typical dish from the area and it is highly recommended, there were many more dishes that I would have tried but the portions are quite large and of good value for money. I would definitely return!“

“I've been living in Lagos for over a year. I've visited various restaurants and cafes here, and O Mexilhão is my absolute favorite! Whenever I go to other restaurants, I compare them to O Mexilhão, and always, O Mexilhão comes out on top.

The food is delicious, and the menu is wonderfully curated, making you want to come back to try everything.

This is a family-run restaurant, with the chef and the manager being a married couple.

My personal favorites are the octopus with sweet potatoes (served with salad), fried calamari, all seafood and amazing tiramisu!

There are pizzas in three sizes (30 cm, 50 cm, 100 cm). We ordered the 30cm pizza, but in hindsight we would have preferred the 50cm pizza because it was so delicious.
