“We absolutely love this place - the speciality suckling pig is honestly one of the best things you can possibly eat. No frills, and a bit rough around the edges but all adds to the undeniable charm. Couvert includes some amazing homemade bread and the starter meat and cheese board had some amazing things on it including homemade chorizo, a warm sheep’s cheese, incredible cured ham and some spicy goats cheese. The menu is actually quite extensive and varied and I wish I had the space to eat more of it. If I could give 6 out of 5 I would, absolutely essential if you’re within 100km.“

“10/10. I really like to go out and eat, most of the time a lot more expensive than this. I rarely leave reviews, only when I really really feel like it’s deserved. This was absolutely insane; especially for a small place (even casual) like this. I’d pay double the money to eat the same food back home again. A must visit.
Dietary restrictions: My Girlfriend is lactose intolerant and they did something to the sauces to fix it.“

“Fresh and authentic cuisine. After trying our luck at a restaurant around the corner and unfortunately not getting a table, we asked the owner where he would like to eat. He recommended the Reis restaurant to us - the five of us just managed to get the last table. By 8 p.m. all the tables, inside and outside, were full and the line was getting longer and longer. Rightly so: there is fresh cataplana with plenty of excellent quality shrimp and mussels, and the rice stew with swordfish and shrimp was just as good. 40€ per dish for 2 people is almost too little considering the quantity and taste. Three people could be fed per pot. Our son (9 years old) had the pork steak with fig sauce - he ate it all, the sauce was so good and the meat was tender (he pushed the figs to the side ;)) We were very satisfied - the service was very friendly and accommodating. Great evening! (Total for 5 people with starters, main course and dessert + drinks 150€)“

“This place is incredible. The freshest ingredients that are super simple but create such massive flavor. I'm actually not a big pizza person, but this pizza is literally the best I've ever had. Great customer service as well. Please add this as one of your stops in Lagos, I promise, you won't regret it.“

“This restaurant deserves all the stars in the world. The food is exceptional, a must try experience for everyone. It’s a symphony of tastes and colors, masterfully done. We had the chef’s menu and it blew us away. The staff were brilliant as well. They went above and beyond to create a memorable birthday for my partner. They brought champagne, an exquisite cake with a candle and they sang happy birthday. We got complimentary amuse bouche dishes as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting Algarve and wants to try a superior dining experience or celebrate a special event.“

“The best is the waiter who served us, very nice and super attentive to the kid. Both the tuna and cod tartare are spectacular, as well as the braised tuna and especially the cheese board. But above all, the chocolate mousse. The hour we had to wait is highly recommended.“

“We went here two times during our stay. The first time we were pleasantly surprised by the innovative and well-thought menu, followed by its high quality. They exceeded my and my hubby's expectations and the daily dish with tuna felt as tender as wagyu beef and just melted on the tongue. The second time we went there for drinks and a light snack, they delivered good quality drinks as expected.“

“In a street in Ferragudo, an incredible dinner on a summer night in August.
An excellent octopus salad for starters, well seasoned as expected.
Fantastic kebab of properly grilled squid and shrimp accompanied by fries and a generous salad. Very good black pork kebab.
The walnut pie for dessert was not appealing.
The service is affable, friendly and very efficient.
Velho Novo has a new customer here who hopes to become old by returning and recommending.“

“The restaurant is located outside the center of Lagos, in a quiet area. There are few seats and this helps to guarantee a quiet and relaxed atmosphere and a very attentive and quality service. The waiter who served us was very friendly and good at recommending wine. The food is exceptional. We took Muxama de atum (perfect contrast between the saltiness of the tuna and the sweetness of the onion and orange), Camarao frito con ajo (not the breaded fried food you think but probably just fried in oil, with very good prawns and a amazing sauce), patanillas de bacalao (good), polvo at low temperature with batata duce (very tender, with an excellent combination with sweet potato, perhaps the best octopus ever eaten, really delicious). Fair price for the quality offered. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.“

“Un poulet Piri piri digne de ce nom. Il est excellent, tendre et bien cuit, avec son petit goût fumé et le piri piri maison pour les amateurs de repas pimenté. Un restaurant typique sur le bord de la route et un voyage culinaire dans un cadre magnifique. Un accueil très chaleureux de la part des serveurs. À ne pas manquer si vous passez dans les alentours de Monchique ????“

“We went to eat, the views are spectacular. The bad thing was that it was very windy.
We have ordered tuna tartare (delicious) and the seafood and fish cataplana (very delicious).
We paid €80 with 4 drinks.“

“They were incredibly friendly when we arrived at their restaurant without a reservation. They made room for us and set up a table for us right away. We ordered and enjoyed their cooking. They treated us great.
It started to get cooler on their terrace and they brought my daughters two pink blankets.
A detail. Thanks a lot!“
“This is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Ferragudo. Humberto, Antonio and Jessica cannot do enough to make your evening special ! I have been eating here now for around seven years and Humberto, the owner, will go out of his way to get More“

“Been going to alvor for years and always love authentic restaurants. Unfortunately for us we had never found this one before. You need to book but the food and atmosphere is excellent. The manager and staff are extremely professional but friendly and understanding. We had no hesitation in booking a second visit and would thoroughly recommend it. We loved the seafood.“

“We read the reviews and on Sunday we tried dinner there and we loved it. We ordered sardines and sea bass and they were delicious. Both juicy and on point, accompanied by salad, sardines and steamed vegetables, the sea bass, very delicious too. Very well priced too. With drinks, some olives, and a sardine pate, we paid 29.50 in total for 2 people“
“Very nice restaurant to eat in Lagos. Very nice staff and very good food. We ordered a cod and shrimp cataplana for two people, which was actually for at least four.
The garlic squid is recommended. And for dessert, the apple pie and the Algarve pie“

“Loved this place! The service was great and the food was amazing. The French Martini was so well crafted and the goat cheese tapa was delicious (definitely recommend getting some bread to pair with it). It’s definitely a must try in Lagos!“

“This place is underrated. The quality of the food, along with the price-to-service ratio, is excellent! It’s busy, the food is fresh, and the cooks know what they’re doing.
Be sure to put your name down since they don’t accept reservations; it’s worth the wait. It’s a low-key spot with great food. The chicken and sea bass were particularly delicious, and you can taste the difference from cooking on charcoal.
I always check Google reviews before visiting a place. I saw some concerning comments about a red-haired lady, but after observing her while waiting for our table, I felt compelled to share my experience. This place is very busy, and she works hard to serve customers. She might not be the friendliest, but she’s not rude. In fact, she’s quite sweet if you show respect for her efforts. Thank you for the service and the delicious food. We will definitely be back!“
“We stumbled upon this restaurant after another restaurant cancelled our reservation and we are so glad we did. Wasn’t sure if the restaurant would take us without a reservation and not staying at their resort, but they did. We sat outside with a lovely view of the ocean. Service was great and food was wonderful….everything from the “appetizer” to the fish of the day. No room for dessert. We had foolishly believed we would be warm enough without sweaters and when the sun went down and we were freezing, they found us blankets to wrap in. Could not have been better for our first meal in Portugal!“

“Good food. Good service. We were unaware of the local cuisine, so we got an excellent recommendation from the waiter, who I guess is also the owner. Delicious food, take the special! Sides come with the mains, not mentioned in the menu, so don't rush with the salads and you can enjoy the deserts.“

“A tasquinha of typical Portuguese food.
Very well decorated place, excellent service, fast and friendly. And daily dishes with wine and coffee for €10.
The bacalhau a bras, spectacular, and they are large portions!

“Very well organized place. Places are limited and the turnout is always high. Upon arrival they divert you to the rooftop to drink an aperitif. When a table becomes available you can go down and eat a good variety of tapas, sandwiches (pregos) and very tasty main courses. The sangria is recommended: it doesn't follow the original recipe, but I found it to be a very successful fresh and summery version.“

“Lovely casual atmosphere, food well priced and good quality.
However, on the salty side, but that seems common in Portugal
Vegetarian options: Present
Parking: On a busy road, I would recommend parking above Lagos, against the city wall. The people there ask between 1 and 5 euros. Then walk to the restaurant through Lagos“

“Wonderful beach spot. Beach front with extra fresh fish. All local and cooked to perfection. Our writer Pablo gave us such an amazing service (friendly, quick and professional) always checking on us, but not “bumping into us” ;). You shouldn’t miss the clams. Best I ever tried besides in O Grove, Galicia.
MUSIC!!! Smooth deep house vibes with some surprise from firm to time.
It worth to walk here.
Thanks to all the team!!! We’ll be back soon“
“I have been told about this place by a friend of mine and when I entered it gave me the idea of a small hostaria I used to go when I was a kid. Had a nice Turkish steak and tried some sardines. The fish was super fresh and the meat was exquisite. Loved it“

“We got the Brunch for 2 and we loved it. The balance between sweet and savory food is just right. The eggs were done well enough not to make a mess when eating the bread, and the onions were caramelized very well. One element for improvement is that the peanut butter was too thick, and when combined with the pancake, was too difficult to chew.
The staff is really nice and friendly, and good vibe/music.
Highly recommended ✅“

“Recommended during our visit to the Sardine Museum in Portimao, very friendly welcome and in our language (French) varied menu and attractive prices with local white wine everything was delicious! The almond tart was a big hit with the children as was the tuna burger. The moderately spicy sardine/mackerel toasts were delicious!! Canned sardines and other fish on sale, we bring some home!! Address to discover and remember! Thanks to the Museum for this recommendation.“

“A true culinary gem!
As soon as we arrived, we were enchanted by the elegant and warm setting of this restaurant. The atmosphere is both intimate and friendly, making it an ideal place for a dinner as a couple or as a family.
The cuisine, for its part, is a pure delight. Each dish is an explosion of flavors, prepared with fresh, quality ingredients, and presented with care. We had the chance to taste several local specialties, and each bite transported us.
Working in the sector myself, I am particularly demanding, and I can say without hesitation that this restaurant stands out for its excellence. The service is impeccable, the staff is attentive without being intrusive, and the menu offers a varied choice that will delight all palates.
This restaurant marked the start of our stay in the best possible way, and we naturally chose to return to end our trip in style. An unforgettable gastronomic experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking to indulge in authentic and refined cuisine“

“Spectacular place, super friendly and attentive staff! The food was delicious and served with care. The servings were good. We were a group of four, we ordered starters, a meat board, dessert, coffees and wine, the average price was around €20-25 per person and we were quite satisfied. The quality and attention to service are worth the price.“
“Absolutely fantastic tapas bar and wine shop. On the wine side - beautiful selection of mostly Portuguese wines with a few internationals thrown in, 2 prices to either drink in or take home and a good choice of chilled bottles if you’re in need of something quick. Tapas was great, would particularly recommend the stingray, even my 8 year old son loved it. Finally, brilliant knowledgeable and caring staff - i did have a corked bottle one night and they exchanged immediately. Was gutted they went on holiday for the second part of our break but luckily we stocked up!“

“Dom Vinho is a special Portuguese restaurant and one of our favorite go-to places in Lagos. This establishment has earned its place as a beloved local favorite, thanks to its blend of traditional dishes prepared in a contemporary manner, outstanding wine selection, and warm, welcoming service.
The dining experience at Dom Vinho is exceptional. The owner, António Matos, is highly acclaimed for his deep knowledge, award-winning creations and dedication to providing memorable meals. His passion for hospitality shines through in every detail, ensuring that each visit is delightful.
Behind the scenes, António’s wife works her magic as the phenomenal chef. Her culinary expertise is evident in every dish. The menu features an array of traditional Portuguese dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients and a creative touch. From the savory seafood, to the perfectly cooked meats, every bite is a testament to her talents.
Adding to the charm of Dom Vinho is Hiana, a remarkably engaged and skilled server who elevates the dining experience with her attentive and friendly service. Her knowledge of the menu and wine list is impressive, and her genuine warmth makes every guest feel valued.
The wine selection at Dom Vinho is also noteworthy. António’s passion for wine is reflected in a carefully curated list that features some of the best of Portugal, perfectly paired to complement the exquisite cuisine. Whether you are a local, or a visitor to Lagos, we believe Dom Vinho is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates a quality dining experience delivered with local Portuguese flair.“

“A small place, but with great quality food.
Very good quality/price ratio. It's like the 100 montaditos: you mark on a sheet what you want and give it to the waiter. But of course, with 100 times more quality than the 100 montaditos.
A must-see place in Portimao.“
“We have been to this restaurant a few times before but in the summer. It was busy noisy and the waiter was rude. This time everything was fabulous and the waiters could not have been more charming. We will certainly return but only in the winter months.“

“Have had a standing reservation for every Sunday for the last 5 years for lunch. To me after many years of eating "frango no churrasco", ie. grilled baby chicken all over Portugal, this is the best location in the Algarve. This is real Portugal and in a real environment.“
