A very nice experience on a street corner which, at first glance, does not suggest such a surprise.
The manager did everything to put us at ease and make ourselves understood (which is not always easy when you don't speak Portuguese)

“Had lunch at this lovely little restaurant tucked away just behind the main street. We had the anchovies which were the best we've ever had, and the Octopus rice which was fantastic. So reasonably priced. It's number 1 on TripAdvisor for a reason.“

“We were eating there, the place is perfect to then take the boat to Culatra and you have views of the port since it is right there. The food is very delicious and well priced. They have a variety of homemade desserts.

Food was deliciously prepared and presented, either during happy hour or dinner. Extreme care was provided for those who are allergic or intolerant to something, like gluten for example. Choice is wide and meals are always fresh. Meat is maybe the best thing you can order, paired with a glass of local wine or a fresh passion fruit Sangria (simply delicious). Service was impeccable: everyone has always beeen extra careful and super friendly. Stop by if you have the chance during your trip to Olhão: you won’t regret it!!

“It is a small restaurant located in the Olhao Fish Market. The charm you have is the food. The quality and the preparation. It is eaten on the terrace located on the pavement of the street. The staff is very attentive and they are waiting for all the details. We ate a very good arros de tamboril (rape rice), different from how it is made at home in Catalonia, but in its style, it was very good and well made. The price of €58 for two people seemed fantastic. Highly recommended.“

“We stayed in the adjacent apartments and noticed a flurry of activity outside one of the several restaurants attached to the buildings. Greeted by the lovely Carolina (sorry if my spelling is wrong) it was a pleasant surprise. 12 euro for menu of the day which included bread, olives, a main course and drinks. The mushroom risotto in a port wine reduction was sublime. We’d definitely return.“

Highly recommend, the waitress serving us was so so so lovely, enthusiastic and friendly, which has been so refreshing as some places where we have gone for food, it hasn’t been as friendly. Food was amazing, every plate was delicious, and our favourite was the tomato, mozzarella tapas plate. My boyfriend’s favourite was the chicken and the cheese platter.

“Typical Portuguese in the midst of so much tourism, From the starters to the coffee, the food was extraordinary. The white sangria is sweet but very good, we opted for sea bream and grilled squid which were divine. Friendly employees especially the grill man. Without a doubt, a place to return!“

“Discovered this place by accident on the main drag in Olhão. Very typical traditional Portuguese restaurant. Speciality seems to be cataplana fish stews. In fact the restaurant bills itself as the ‘king of the cataplana,’ and it certainly lives up to that boast. My friend and I had the monkfish and prawn cataplana and it was AMAZING! Huge amounts of prawns and monkfish with loads of nicely cooked onion and tomato. Absolutely delicious. It was certainly big enough for three, maybe even four people with small appetites. It defeated us, sadly! With a very nice bottle of rose, olives, water, and a salad, the bill came to around €65, a complete bargain! Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.“
