I went to lunch with my family to celebrate my mother's birthday. They asked us to move into the room at 2 pm. I think it's a lack of respect. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone. 21|04| 2024.

Very, very nice and honest typical Portuguese food. I had filetes de polvo- they were delicious, the bread and starters equally good. I loved the experience
Low quality, poor flavour and expensive. I don’t recommend this place at all. Everything was frozen and quite plain. It was so disappointed and we found a little stone in the clams and an olive bone in the fries. The toilet was awful too.
Parking: Pouco e difícil porque é na via pública!

Our Trip Advisor food and wine guide Enrico in Lisbon recommended we have dinner at "Manels" when visiting Porto. It did not disappoint. We met up with friends who met on the Lisbon tour to experience an authentic night of Portuguese local cuisine. We had four reserved seats at the bar pictured here with our friendly and attentive service Livia. She did an outstanding job recommending 3 of the most popular entrees for us to share. Appetizers came out first cod croquettes and octopus salad. While I might not have believed it, I had thirds of the octopus salad, it was absolutely delicious. Livia recommended the house "jar wine" which we would describe as a large carafe versus ordering a bottle of wine. It was smooth as velvet and topped off a perfect meal. After our meal, Livia walked us to the upstairs restaurant which was packed with locals. For us, the bar was the ideal location where we could hear better, learn about our food and wine from Livia, and experience such warm hospitality. The price for such an evening, splitting the check with our friends was only $59 USD including our tip. Portugal is an exceptional value for American tourists.
We cannot understand why this place has received such negative reviews. We turned up 'on spec' on our first night in Porto, because we were staying in an apartment just round the corner, and it was pouring with rain! Despite the restaurant being very busy, with at least two large parties, we were shown to a table, and the young waiter proceeded to explain each of the dishes to us in flawless English. We opted for the roast veal, which came in a huge platter with roast potatoes, and creamed spinach and rice on the side. Too much for two people, but that is not meant as a criticism! The care and attention of staff was outstanding, and we were made to feel very welcome from start to finish. We hope to eat there again during our stay. I think some recent reviewers have failed to realise that this place specialises in simple traditional Portuguese fare, cooked and presented to perfection. Also that in Portugal it is customary to offer a starter on the table, which you are not obliged to eat - but if you do, you pay for it. It is not intended as a freebie.
Excellent and affordable portuguese food. The cabrita is not to be missed. Good house wine. Friendly and efficient staff.
Truly a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and our waiter, Juam, was professional, friendly and helpful. A delightful evening. We ate the hake. It was perfect.
Alentejo-style pork is the best

This is obviously a popular spot with lots of positive recommendations and many photos of famous folk who've come through the door. In our opinion, the setting is great and the waiting staff are friendly. However, we just didn't find the food brilliant. Between us we had the cod, pork and the special. It was quite oily and just not tasty. Would likes to have given a higher score, but was disappointed by the experience.
This place was recommended by a mate's son and so 5 of us decided to go. Very traditional restaurant with outstanding food and service. We were very well looked after. Very reasonable price too...Oh and excellent house wine? Best meal we had in Porto! Give it a try ...you wont be disappointed.
We visited few places in porto but this restaurant is one of the best experience that I had with my wife. Highly recommend it!! Thanks again to all the crew!
Take away well served and
