This is actually the best restaurant of Faial.... Excellent, delicate food and they are experts on Azorian wines. As spoiled wine and food lovers, we were suprised by the top quality!
What a joy to sit down and experience such a friendly food and wine tasting in a simple but relaxed environment. We received advice re wine choices and had a selection of freshly prepared Portuguese tapas to choose and complement our wine. Service was great and wine knowledge was commendable. The family team was lovely and we appreciated the opportunity to share in their aspirations to taste food and wine in partnership in Horta.
They only have a sort of tapas but they are great. You get a good introduction in the menu, the concept and last but not least the wine.
Goos ambiance. Franz and Mariana are a great team. Outstanding wine and tapas combinaison Super evening expérience A must to see in Horta!!
My husband and I were on Faial and came here for some wine. We were delightfully surprised that they had a small tapas menu. Everything on their menu was delicious and can definitely fill you up if you want to have dinner there. They also have an extensive local wine selection. Many of the wines they sell are hard to come by unless you go to the winery, which exists on one of the other islands. Cantinho Das Provas will offer many wines by the glass and others by the bottle. We tried many wines there and all were amazing. The owner is well extremely knowledgeable in the wine they carry and in wine in general. We returned several times during our stay on Faial
I was lucky enough to do a group wine tasting with tapas on August 29, 2022. The couple who own this little gem are so knowledgeable about the wine pairings with the delicious tapas (prepared on site by them). It was all so delicious that I went back the next evening and had a wonderful light dinner with some new wines recommended to compliment my tapas. I enjoyed the explanation of the processing of the grapes for the different wines and even tried a white which had more of the characteristics of a light red. I brought two bottles home to Canada. It was a perfect evening.
Located in the heart of Horta, within easy walking distance of the harbour, lies this excellent small wine and tapas place. They provide almost all the local/azorian wines by glass, or even half-glass, so this evening out will be about nice food and excellent wines for tasting. The owners are very kind and know a lot about the local wines, they have great attention to detail in their service and the preparation and presentation of the food. Prices are (very) good compared to exactly the same restaurant-priced wines elsewhere. All in all, a really nice place to stop by and have some wine.
Perfect place for tapas and easy dinner. Large selection of local wines: follow their suggestion about the wine. Service is outstanding. Strongly recommended.
