A local restaurant serving Portuguese cuisine. In our time salmon fish, steak in cream mushroom sauce and grilled durga fish. The dishes were tasty and satisfying and reasonably priced. So is the vegetable salad and the soup.

I disliked today at lunch, a lamb stew, in which the Gods of the palate; They were in a state of ecstasy! One of the best restaurants in Beira Alta! Without a doubt a place to visit frequently!

We read one review and decided to eat here. We ditched our plans for another place because it read so well. There were only two unreserved tables as the place is small. We highly recommend making reservations ahead of time, although we came early so were able to grab one of the unreserved tables. We watched quite a few people get turned away later due to the popularity and lack of room. The prices are great, and the owner, Vasco, cares more about the food he is serving than the money he is making. It is very obvious. Many of his dishes were passed down from his grandmother, and others were variations he created using a variety of fruits, vegetables and meats. Everything we ate was amazing. We were not rushed, as it seems he may only do one seating per night. We were treated more like guests in his home rather than patrons in a restaurant. If you are in Evora, you must eat here if you have the chance. Make sure you take the time to talk with Vasco. He is a unique and wonderful individual.
The second time we have eaten here, travel to Evora especially. As always excellent food, good value and truly excellent entertainment from the owner.
What a great experience….like I said “Dinner and a Show”. The owner looks like an Italian Dictator, with the personality of Buddy Hackett (look him up). In other words, hilarious…. It would not work so well if the food wasn’t delicious/intriguing/delightful. See also, his extensive list of adjectives on the wall. One of the best eating/laughing experiences we have ever had. Hours of operation are later than listed, by 15-45 minutes, but worth the wait. EAT HERE…you will not be sorry!
This was a unique experience for us. The proprietor, Vasco, described the menu, no need to read it. We tried meats we had never eaten before . We enjoyed everything, great sheep's cheese, amazing pork cheeks. And the one-man-show that was Vasco. But he was supported by a hidden kitchen crew who cooked what he so passionately described. An experience.
