Authentic experience, nicest staff we met on our trip (now 6 days in), they didn't have the fish so we took grilled chicken, which had best price-quality. We paid €25 for 2 people, had some bread and olives to start with, grilled chicken with fries and tomato, chocolate mouse and pudding with caramel, plus plenty of wine. Would totally recommend if you're a person who doesn't need a Michelin star and can appreciate the local culture.

Great little restaurant in Pêra. Food cooked on a barbecue and is fantastic value for money. We ate there lunch time and for dinner and also had take away and I couldn't fault it. The Piri Piri chicken was great and comes with piri piri on the side so you can have it as hot as you like. We had take away chicken for 2 with chips ( that it comes with for €6 per person) and added rice (see photo). I also had a pint of Superbock while I waited and it cost €16 in total!. Staff work really hard and are very friendly. Lovely place and recommend it to anyone

Big wait despite the few customers, in the end he doesn't want to split the bill. He is drunk and even tells us to eat at home next time.We will never set foot there again and I advise you to avoid this restaurant.

I loved my dinner at Tasquinha Do Joao. The food was hearty and typical. The peri peri chicken was phenomenal. The service was spot on, filled with kindness and smiles. The local vibe made everything unique and authentic. I absolutely recommend this place.

Great local Portuguese restaurant. Good inexpensive food cooked on the charcoal grill in front of you. Very friendly helpful staff. Lunchtime prata de dia really good value but suggest you book or get there early . Always very very busy. Applies to the previous owner. Not so good now....
