For me, Botequim is the best restaurant I have been in my life... It is not only for the food and the wine but also the way the owners make you feel like if you were part of the family. During our last vacation, we drove an extra 3 hours from Algarve just to have lunch there... When you sit at the counter, the adventure starts! Everything is fabulous... Can't wait to go again!

Foodies: do not miss this! This was among the very best meals we had on a month in Portugal. A husband and wife serve refined country cooking in a 9 seat lunch counter restaurant. Take the owners recommendations for dishes including the asparagus eggs and cod bras style. All is freshly prepared, including the homemade potato chips. The wine selection is exceptional, the service warm and friendly, but the food is the star, truly the highest standard of country cooking. It is not the least expensive lunch you will find, but if you are a foodie so well worth it. Appetizers are maybe in the 10e range with mains in the 15-20e range, but trust me that you will want to try everything once you start tasting the food. The trick to get a seat for lunch is to arrive just before 12:30 when it opens, after that wait until about 1:30-2 when folks are leaving and tap on pop in the door to let him know you will wait (there is no list). The lunch hours are wrong on google, it does not close until 3:45 which leaves plenty of time for a second lunch seating.

Sssh, don’t tell everyone. This place is an absolute gem. What a find! The best service you could ask for from a couple who quite obviously love what they are doing. The food was the BEST we have eaten in Portugal. With the softest, most delicate piece of veal in an amazing sauce. And the homemade chips were to die for. Admittedly we had to wait a little while for 4 seats, but it was totally worth it.

We were only in Evora for 24 hours and we discovered this amazing, friendly and very unique restaurant. This is a must visit (if you can get in) only seats approximately 9 people, we waited for around 30mins before we could get in but it was well worth the wait. Everything from the warm welcome, amazing food, wine and service. We’ve lived in the Algarve for years and this is without a doubt THE best we’ve ever had. Well done and thank you

Believe all the 5 star reviews. This place really is that special. The food was amazing. The owner is oh so gracious and helped us select from the rather lengthy menu. We loved it so much that we tried to go back the next day but we were too late after coming from a tour. Others have said that only the first eight people get in; but there were two couples who had been waiting after speaking with the owner and were getting in as we were leaving, so maybe they do two seatings. Go!

Very fair 1st place. The owners are very nice, the service is amazing, very pleasant. The place is small what makes the meal even better. And… the food is amazing, great great meat! So delicious. We loved our lunch here! Just 8 places so make sure you arrive early or you’ll need to wait, but do wait :)

Really nice casual spot, and amongst the best food we had in Portugal. It’s run by a really nice couple that definitely care about the service and food that they provide. This, paired with some really great food (the cod, black ham, mushrooms, lamb and steak all stuck out), made this a great experience. The only thing to take note of is that there are only around 10 seats, so the wait may be pretty long; I believe our wait was around 20 minutes. Otherwise, a perfect experience.

Loved everything about this place! We were there with the family of four and to say that we were blown away is not understatement. When you are in Evora this place is a MUST! Loved owners who make you feel like you are invited for dinner in their home, which is warm, serves outstanding food with excellent recommendations from the owner. Make sure to stop by, eat, enjoy, and take a moment to think about how much heart is in this place and the food served there. Thank you for letting us taste it so we can remember it for years to come :)
Amazing food and incredible service. Such friendly owners and a cozy place to eat. It is bar service but still very (older) child friendly and our 9 year old had an excellent time ! Would definitely recommend.

My wife, 9 year old and i had possibly the best lunch I’ve ever had in many years of eating out in Portugal. Small, intimate, bar dining on stools, with the couple who own and cook behind bar and in kitchen- they’ve done it for over 40 years and they are true masters in their art. This is a must. Only sits 9 and you can’t book, so needs a relaxed approach, but you won’t regret it

We had a fabulous meal in this tiny, atmospheric bar/restaurant which seated 9 people at the bar. There are no reservations and we were lucky to be the 8th and 9th in the queue... We were welcomed in by the Owner who then served in order of entry. There are just 2 in the team, the owner who explains the dishes that you choose and his wife who does the cooking. The ingredients are top quality and the dishes are packed with incredible flavours. We chose four different starters which came at different times. It was a veritable feast and served with passion and kindness. A marvellous experience.

We did not realize how lucky we were to walk into this spot and immediately get a seat at the bar. Dining here is an experience! The food was amazing and served with care. We had the ham and melon, scrambled eggs with asparagus, tossed salad, a bottle of white wine recommend by the owner and finished our meal with dessert and cappuccino. This lunch was the highlight of our visit to Evora.
