Abundant meals, good location in front of the Douro and friendly and cordial service from Mr. Diniz. Very valid option in Peso da Régua.

Very good homemade food with excellent prices and excellent service. The desserts were also very good and there was a huge variety of homemade desserts. I highly recommend it and I will return if I visit the region again.

Incredible food and wonderful, clean environment, however the service left a little to be desired... The man who served us, despite being polite, didn't have much patience to listen to our requests and even suggested that we should order food first and then the food I think he lacked a certain skill in dealing with us and we were scared by his direct way of talking about how we should make the request.

Very attentive and nice waiter and super inexpensive food. Of course there was also good wine in the Douro Valley. :-

Very pleasant restaurant, with traditional Portuguese cuisine. On this second visit I ordered the cod with cornbread and it did not disappoint. One of my favorite restaurants due to the friendliness of the staff, traditionalism, good atmosphere and fair prices.Coming back!

The quality of the food does not match the price at all... The wine list is for tourists... the desserts were a disaster, the cold restaurant in the middle of winter only made the experience worse...

The waiters couldn’t have done more to make us feel special. Excellent, well-presented food throughout. Classy and still authentic Portuguese. We loved it.

Gato Preto is a restaurant where the warm welcome to the Portuguese stands out. The gastronomic experience was a pleasant surprise: the food was delicious, the service was extremely attentive and the quality/price ratio was fair. However, allow me to share a small point of constructive criticism: the cheesecake, although good, did not have that "homemade" flavor that is usually the icing on the cake. Perhaps a more homemade version of this sweet would end the meal on a high note.Overall, O Gato Preto is a charming place that combines the tourist atmosphere with the care and attention to detail that the Portuguese appreciate. It's worth visiting to enjoy an excellent meal with a touch of affection.
