Nice place on the bank of the Douro. The owner decides what you have to order. Everything costs €15. Each person who sits down must order a dish and it is not possible to share them. We ordered a bottle of wine and he ended up bringing the one he wanted. Cost €30 for a wine that was served to us already opened and not in front of us. Price of €25 for 4 plates of very small cold cuts and cheeses and burnt bread croutons with a little ham and half a cherry tomato. Absolutely to avoid.

Great location, expensive food, all food costs 15 eur per person. Mandatory meal for everyone, didn't know a word of English. A glass of beer (0.3) cost 7.5 euros. The food didn't taste too bad, but go somewhere else.

Main complaint is that the food is priced OK, but all the other items (drinks, bread etc.), of which price is not listed, are charged extremely high. The food was actually not too bad, but host and his wife are terrible hosts. They get very angry with a customer, asking about using the toilet. Please do yourself a big favour; walk further!

I was verbally abused and physically assaulted over a dispute with a bill at this awful restaurant by the owner, who does not speak English but seems to understand it on a very basic level. I had not ordered a plate of food for my 3 year old daughter, who I wanted instead to share a pizza with my elder daughter. When our food came the owner brought a plate for her that we had not ordered. We explained that we did not want it. He became very aggressive and agitated. He explained that the restaurant's policy was that each person needed to buy at least one dish at €15. We disagreed with it applying to a 3 year old, especially as there were only place settings for 4. I suggested to my family of 5 (wife and 3 children, ages 11, 10 and 3) that they leave while I dealt with the money as the atmosphere became very tense. I calculated how much we owed (each dish is €15, we ordered 4 of them, plus drinks) and the amount came to under €90. I left 90€ on the table and followed my family out of the establishment. The owner ran out after me, aggressively shouting at me. I explained that I had left cash on the table. He went back to the restaurant, and then came outside again, this time even more aggressive and angry. He grabbed my arm and backpack and tried to drag me back to the restaurant. I had to brace myself as he raised his fists to punch me. My family were extremely distressed and had called for help among nearby tour operators and the tourist office manager, all of whom witnessed the attack. They later explained that he was well know locally as a madman and who took advantage of tourists. I went back to the restaurant to try to calm the situation. I pointed to the cash on the table. The owner picked it up and dragged me over to his wife to calculate the bill. As expected it was less than €90 I told them to keep it and left. I have read many bad reviews of this establishment, although none with as violent of an outcome as mine. Many agree the food and service is very poor. This man does not have the temperament or basic manners to run a restaurant like this. I reported the situation to the local police and have filed an official complaint in their complaints book.

Event though the food was good… is was not worth its price… I’ve paid €15 for 4 chicken wings (absurd!) also he “offered” a pastel de nata (very delicious) but charged us for it, we asked for the simpel white wine, but charged us and gaves us the most expensive one, he didn’t even asked what wine we wanted even their was 6 different white wines to chose from for different prices.
When we asked voor de bill we had to pay cash (that’s not even the problem) but when we asked why the pastel de nata and the most expensive wine was one the bill he started to “yell” in Portugese and didn’t even spoke English (for a very touristic place that’s work in their advance) at a moment he was so mad that he thread to trow a bottle at my friend… service was bad and the food was absolutely not worth its price…. All the bad reviews you read, are true, the positive reviews are scarce so don't rely on them!!

Unfriendly staff. The food is way too expensive for what you get. A plate of pasta that seems to come straight from the microwave costs €15 here!! Next time I would rather have lunch at another restaurant in the area.

Great views but everyone has to order food, weird policy.
AVOID THIS PLACE!!!
You are obliged to order a certain amount per person, the service is max unfriendly, you get very small portions for 15 EUR (every dish costs the same), no pictures allowed, you will not receice a printed bill (do they pay taxes)?
Do not be attacted by the nice location and furniture!
