Fuji - Sushi Experience

Super fresh sushi, had a very great take away experience. The selection and taste was out of this world! Highly recommend and will be visiting again before we head out of Sao Miguel!

The restaurant with a high score on GMaps stands out for its somewhat different approach to the usual, interpreting the chef's vision of Japanese cuisine. In addition to the traditional menu, there are two tasting options. I opted for "Omakase". The freshness of the fish is not debatable, the taste of the sea, good presentation and adequate service for the chosen option. The 8 "moments" on the menu already include soup (udon) and dessert. The remaining dishes vary. I was expecting more sashimi, but overall the experience was pleasant.
Unfortunately there is no wine pairing option, but they do make some good gin and tonics. Wine list has some variety, there are 3 wine options by the glass (basic whites priced by the glass at the price of the bottle in the store). Gins also have a “high” price.
In short: it is recommended to visit for the freshness and good quality of the fish. Whether or not to try the tasting menus is up to each individual. I personally found that making an individual selection of dishes from the menu allowed you to explore more of the chef's skills and expand the culinary experience.

The food was great although you have to pay 5€ per extra wasabi and it was not much to begin with (I’ve never seen that).

The impression: they want to be a luxury and fancy restaurant but they fall short on some details. Also we had to wait a lot for the last dish and for the dessert (because a big table came).
But I have to add that the matcha dessert was crazy good.

We tried a restaurant or two but didn't have reservations, we walked around and ended up here. What a lovely, calm, quiet little place! There are only about 6 tables plus a few seats at the bar area.

The waitress was lovely and kind, their wine menu was good, the sushi fresh and delicious, the desert refreshing and perfect. Would not have changed a thing about our experience!

This evening, we dined at Fuji Sushi Experience, and it was truly sophisticated. The dishes were beautifully presented, each plate uniquely crafted. The quality of the food was incredibly fresh; it’s undoubtedly one of the best sushi places we’ve ever visited. We were served by two ladies who provided outstanding service – they were very helpful and extremely friendly. We enjoyed a Gin and Tonic with Japanese ETSU Gin, which was well-flavored and delightful to drink. The price-quality ratio is excellent, especially considering everything is freshly prepared and the presentation is superb. We highly recommend this place.

It’s a very small place so it feels very cozy. We tried the 6 course meal and everything was pretty good.

Food was great, and the service was amazing. Went there on a Friday evening and sat at the bar. Had a tuna, spicy tuna, and veggie roll, as well as the wagyu nigiri. Perfectly prepared. The matcha to end the meal was delicious.

The sushi menu was an inspiration for the taste buds and tongue. The composition of the 6 menu courses, from the soup to the final dessert, was excellent. - And the matching white wine completed this taste composition.

Beautiful place. The food was incredibly fresh, with local fish. Would recommend the fish and matcha tempura, the japanese pancake and the nigiri selection. The waiters are especially well informed and available. Of course, be prepared to pay accordingly.

Did not expect such a great sushi experience at the Azores. Great quality, portions and service from the staff. My family really enjoyed our meal here! Have eaten at many wonderful sushi restaurants around the world and this restaurant is no exception. They use locally caught fish as well which is apparent from the freshness. Thanks for a great meal!
