My taxi from the airport said in the whole city, this was the place to go for authentic Azorean food like he was at home. He told me to come early, as it gets lots of business, which I did accidentally 15 minutes early. They did not fuss and let me wait inside until opening. There was bread and cheese for an appetizer. I got the fried horse mackerel, which I saw delivered being there early, which were fried whole. Lemon, roasted peppers, and onions pickled in balsamic were supplied to garnish. There was also boiled potatoes and a kind of bean salad. It was all absolutely delicious and worth a wait.

Very disappointing place even though the guide recommended it to us. You only have 4 dishes to choose from. The stews are very spicy and salty. Very unfriendly service

We have tried the fish of the day and two meat dishes.
The food was very good. The service has been very slow.

Small, family-run restaurant, perfect for living the Azorean gastronomic experience if you like to try authentic, well-prepared homemade food. Very familiar service with a "busy" and chatty atmosphere, perhaps not made for all tourists; Spaniards, Portuguese, Italians and Greeks will understand me because we have it at home... yet everything is under control and it does not break the effectiveness of the service, so it maintains that genuine charm. They have an extensive menu but reduced to what they cook that same day, which can be between 4 or 5 dishes. Something curious is that sometimes you have to share a table with other diners to take advantage of space, some will like it more or less, but if you want to play and feel like one of the others, try it, we just had wine with a lovely family and chatting after dinner romance language

Love this place as it is a real authentic Portuguese restaurant and the place where locals eats. If you are vegan you are going to starve but if you love fish and other local dishes you will feel like you are in your grandma’s kitchen or mom’s kitchen if you are Portuguese. The bath rooms are clean, accessibility is good and the service is fast albeit not the most friendly. Please note that they don’t take credit cards and cash is king here.
I would recommend this place for a great meal.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a one foot bump to get not the restaurant but it is good otherwise.

Very bad customer service. Multiple times I went there, we waited for some time, and no one ever approached!! The staff ran into us multiple times, but even then We were ignored and we just left.

Appalling. The free tour guide recommended it to us, after going with all the enthusiasm in the world, waiting calmly and patiently for quite a while next to the bar, we decided to leave since the people behind the bar didn't even look at us and now I tell you they saw us. Terrible attention, not even a hello or inform us if they can serve us or not. I understand that it is a small bar and they give even what they give but at least a hello and they tell you if they can serve you or not. Terrible attention.
After waiting patiently for the place to empty, they didn't seem to have any intention of serving me. I asked the lady at the bar and she simply told me to "wait for me." At the end, after an hour of waiting, I had to go somewhere else so as not to stay. without eating, a shame it was the only bad experience and waste of time in Sao Miguel

It is a village bar with delicious food. The space is small, when you arrive you queue and go in, you may have to share a table with someone but it is not a problem. We tried the ribs and the fried fish and it was delicious. Very correct price.

A must stop to taste typical dishes from the area. The tuna and fried peas are spectacular.
You have to queue but it's worth it!
Sensational place for locals and of course foreign people who want to eat delicious food.

Great stew, not so good chicharros. Places are very limited and therefore reservations are not accepted. I recommend arriving at midday so as not to waste too much time, you pay in cash and it only opens at lunch. I found the accompaniment strange, I wasn't a fan of the onion, but I actually liked it because it was something traditional that I had never tried before! The cheese is impeccable and the local beer, Special, has a different flavor. It was pleasant!

Since I was young, I heard about Mané Cigano's chicharros! It took him to be 32 years old to decide to try the famous chicharros in a place as genuine as this. No big fuss, but everything is very clean and delicious! The chicharros, besides being tasty and fresh, are very well served and at a very affordable price! One of the few restaurants on the island where there is good service and quality regional food! I will definitely visit again!
