New Year's Eve 2023/2024, we drank well, ate well in quality and quantity, super service, both in terms of effectiveness, proactiveness and friendliness. Atmosphere typical of a New Year's Eve. 5 stars.

We stayed at the Octant as the first stop of our honeymoon and we were impressed by the service and amenities provided. We loved the whale watching and pool deck especially. We did not expect to be lounging at the hotel on our honeymoon, but it is truly a great spot to relax and have a drink. We booked couples massages and left feeling fully relaxed and nice and loose. They have a great breakfast buffet that made it very easy to grab something to eat quick before a day full of adventures. Located on the edge of the city it is a perfect 10 minute ocean side walk to downtown which was great to stretch out after dinner. The concierge was so helpful booking reservations for us (a must have for meals in Ponta Delgada) and spent a long time trying to help us rebook a tour after the original fell through. Their turndown service was on point and our room was always well stocked and neat and tidy. If we ever return to the Azores (we plan to) the first place we would look to stay is the Octant.

This is not a 5-Star hotel. It is a 3-Star hotel. The bedhead had a large rip (see picture.) The sink did not drain well. The room was nothing like the hotel pictures. The nuts, chocolates and berries were stale or half rotten. In addition, the trips and activities that I contracted with the hotel were overpriced and of low quality service. Towards the end of my trip I contracted a local agency to handle my trips and realized that the costs are about 3 times lower, and that the quality and service are much higher than what the hotel offers. I will never come back to this hotel

I was expecting more from this property. We paid extra for the sea view. Ends up that it’s a view of port with cranes and freight docks and a very busy and noisy road in front. Don’t waste the extra $ for that view with noise. The pool area was nice. The hotel seemed understaffed. Check out and check in took a long time. Only 1 person working the desk to handle it. I have a feeling the way that tourism is growing to the Azores that there will be more properties to choose from as time goes on.

Of all the hotels where we stand on Sao Miguel, this one was the best. Big rooms, clean, with great ocean views and extremely friendly be considerate staff that deserve a big thank you. The Whale Watching rooftop bar is a big plus as well. Would recommend to stay here for those visiting the island.

I traveled with a friend to Ponta Delgado and our experience at the Octant was incredible! The service is wonderful, everyone was so incredibly warm and helpful. Huge thanks to Luis who helped plan our airport transfers, renting a car and dinner reservations! On top of the beautiful rooms (all with water views), the service, and all the little touches the hotel provides, the location was perfect too, and easy to walk to many areas throughout the city. Can’t say enough good things about our experience and looking forward to coming back!

We had a fantastic week at the Octant! Everyone there was so nice and helpful. The breakfast was superb, way more than you would expect with an "included breakfast" and it even included gluten free bread items. The doorman was possibly the friendliest person I have ever met, Carolina and Solange at the front desk were so nice and helped us get dinner reservations on multiple nights. And Viktor gave us the most amazing wine and cheese tasting as we checked out. We did not want to leave!! The hotel is also in a great spot and makes it easy to walk to dining, shopping and excursions. Our rooms were very clean and had everything we needed, including an expresso machine.
