Christmas is synonymous with King Cake and Queen Cake. As here at home, candied fruits are not kings, the queen ends up gaining star status. My mother is very attentive to everything about sweets competitions and the like.... After some report, the phone call came: "Son, can't you stop by Pontinha to buy a queen cake? I just saw on television that they won the gold medal." I had barely hung up and my niece (grandmother's accomplice in these crimes) had already sent the address via WhatsApp Off I went in search of the famous cake... The place itself isn't the most spectacular thing in the world, but the taste of the custard tarts immediately makes you want to memorize the address. As for the Rainha cake... I can only say one thing.... Impressive... Imagine you are eating a cake with dried fruits that takes your head inside a Ferrero Rocher... What a wonderful pastry. ..
