Seeing a couple of bad reviews for Reds , have to say am a litte surprised as my wife and myself have been four times ,since May and the meals were excellent every time , Great steaks and the ribs according to the wife( whos pretty choosy with ribs tbh) were delicious with the meat succulent and falling off the bones, only downside the waitress who was an absolute gem seems to have left , but the 2 lads who served us were friendly and efficient Will def return when back in Alvor next may.

traveled with a group of golfers 32 of us we had our last night presentation drinking etc in Big Reds what a place to dine with the quality of food Steaks, Ribs, and Fish plus a variety of starters and free wine was incredible The staff and the owners made us all very welcome and highly recommend looking forward to returning again. Great venue. Can accommodate large groups and couples equally well. Fabulous steaks, cooked to perfection. Owner is on site to ensure perfect service. Lovely staff. Beer, shorts and wine available. We were a group of 32 no delays and all food served as ordered.

Came last year and had a bad meal but always willing to give a second chance but wish I hadn’t.The starter was just ok and one meal(fish bake)was good but my fish and chips were awful,over cooked batter and stone cold raw fish after waiting over 25mins for another one it came over cooked and dry.we will definitely not be returning

Excellent restaurant. I had fish very generous portion, and my husband had steak it was cooked perfectly , lovely staff was very friendly

This used to be our go to every year but we found the ribs to be very fatty, the chips looked unappealing. When I asked the waitress why the chips she explained that they were fresh potatoes but they were greasy so she did offer to change them for French fries. The waiter/waitresses were very friendly. The cocktails were really good. The place was very empty in comparison to years where it had atmosphere and appeal

We visited here with 10 of us for a night meal the food was very good and the staff were plesant the building looks like it was going to be hot inside due to all the glass but in fact it was very cool we had mixed grils and steaks all were cooked as we asked and the prices were reasonable so overall i would say give it a go only down side was the card machine was broken so we had to get cash out from atm that cost us more but otherwise it was a nice visit

Just had a lovely meal here. The steak was gorgeous lots of flavour and the accompaniments are all tasty. This is my 3rd time at this restaurant and each meal has been perfect. The young staff are lovely, the young girl who seemed to be in charge never stopped smiling and was very helpful. I think this is one of my favourite places in Alvor.

Went for Sunday lunch after hearing good reports about the food. Our meal was the best we ever had on holiday. Really good helpings and best selection of beautifully cooked vegetables (seven in total ). Lovely surroundings and attentive staff. Will certainly be back in October.
Always pop in to big Reds if I'm in Alvor. Lovely steak on the stone (my go to at Big Reds) Massive steak, lovely sauces and for the size of the steak 20 euros is an absolute bargain price. Good service, nice ambience. I can't fault the place to be honest.

Oh dear! Our 4th visit here since December 2022 and we were disappointed. We had a great Christmas lunch and 2 really good Sunday lunches here so we’re really looking forward to this Sunday lunch. Not that it was awful just that the quality and quantity was quite down on our previous experiences.

The food was the best thing about this place. It’s a good thing the steak was nice and the staff were friendly because the restaurant itself isn’t great. It seemed a bit run down and battered to be honest. When we went there was no fillet steak available. At a steak restaurant. So we had to settle for our second choice of T-Bone and a chicken dish. Also beware of the fact that this restaurant has at some point changed location to next to the bowling alley. Google still has the old location, which we ended up going to first annoyingly.

After reading positive reviews we headed to Big Reds as I'm a steak lover. Steak was fine. The ribs were only so so. Could have used another couple of minutes cooking in my opinion. Both servers - male and a female - were extremely pleasant and couldn't be faulted. However, the place needs a good scrubbing. Windows filthy - inside and out - and going to the toilet you are walking over an extension lead and the toilet was only so so. The outside could do with a little bit of tlc as well.

Went on our last night in Alvor, read lots of positive reviews and wasn't disappointed. Service was very good and quick, really welcoming waitress and waiter. Food was really good quality and was plenty of it, I had the medium ribs (which is actually quite big) and my grown up son had the chicken curry. Both of us really enjoyed our meal. Really good place to come If there was any slight suprise, it was how quiet the restaurant was at 8:30 on a Saturday evening, quite possibly because it was the last sat of the Easter hols and a lot of the Brits would have gone home.
